Ghost in the Shell is my favorite anime series! I haven't watched it in like 4 months and I don't have good memory so my info might be rusty(or wrong). But yeah Motoko is a cyborg with an augmented brain. She damaged her body in a plane crash At age 5 if I'm not mistaken, which caused her to swap into a prosthetic body. As for the lifespan, picture Motoko (and almost everyone else of the GITS world) as data in your computer's hard drive you can delete Motoko the same way you delete data on your computer.
