| Ofcourse I have made drawings of males too, but... you know... they're really boring to look at. That's why I usually like to draw women. But since you asked, I have some sketches of males too. This guy has got a really big rifle with him- looks kind of dumb guy to me... ![]() This one is not with manga style, but you get the picture still... it seems that he's a german soldier. ![]() And then something you can watch with your eyes open. I wouldn't want to take an armwrestling match with this schoolgirl... ![]()

| I really like alot of your drawings (especially the clothing, my friends always start groaning whenever I go on a rampage about not being able to draw the wrinkles in clothing. Then again, maybe I should use a model once in a while ^_^; ) The perspective in the rooftop picture was pretty good, but something that should be practiced alot just because it's perspective, and perspectives can really throw off an otherwise amzing picture. The main points for your pictures personally: Faces, as you've already heard, are one of your definite weak points. I really liked the face of the german soldier, though. I think you should focus less an drawing a "manga style" and focus more on just drawing expressive faces (a key characteristic as to why manga faces are the way they are... eyes are key in expressing emotions, so they make them bigger and more expressive. If you work from your non-manga style and just focus on more expressive eyes and mouths with simpler shapes, leaning from reality to simpler and cuter circles and such, a much better and more natural "manga style" should result.) You did make a lot of progress in just one day though. The other thing you should really work on is joints. This isn't really a consistent issue, but the concept page for Noriko Hasegawa has her with her leg and ankle in a really unnatural position. Keep an eye on that, especially if you'll be creating a manga. Natural, consistent body positions and anatomy structure help draw the line between mediocre and really good mangaka. I also really like the shading, but try to experiment with screen tones (either real or from a manga software) if possible. Your robotic arms and things are amazing (I'm not real good with anything like robotics or machinery, myself. I focus more on people, nature, and settings. And random, extremely colorful doodles XD) Oh, and watch your head shapes. The tops of the heads tend to go rather flat. Other than that (heh... as if I'd said almost nothing), my only personal comment is, I wish you would draw girls with some more clothing on every now and then. But that's just me... less clothing actually helps more with anatomy if you're talking about technical skill. And practice guys more!! (OR ELSE!!) Guys are important to storylines too, so if they're not interesting, make them so. I'll shut up now (I feel like a strict old crotchety teacher, but I'm most definitely not ;_; ), so that's all. I figure I owe you after that tyrade, so I'll post some of my art (it's not necessarily any better than yours... meh) in the relatively near future. Bye, and keep posting! *beats down ferocious scanner/copier/printer with a club and throws it in a padlocked cage for later*

| Absolutely inspiring and good comment! Thanks! I will immidietly start rigorous training to make my style better and faster to draw, concentrating on faces and emotions. At least thirty pages have to be filled! Guys will be in the program too(manga style, I don't have a problem with realistic style- or so I think...). A question though: I can't use computers worth crap, so does anyone know, where to get a good program for screen tones and colors and such? This is important! A realistic style picture that has some emotions drawn. The guy on the right was shot in the neck and is in a shock while the middle guy is rushing towards you to bash your head for shooting the other man on the right. The man on the lower left is just a spineless crybaby, and collapsed because you shot the guy on the right... I have no problem in drawing just about any emotion with realistic style, but I have to practice manga style more to attain the same level (mind you that I've only been at it only three weeks now) ![]() ![]() I also thought that it would be good to redesign some of the characters I planned, so that they can be more easy and faster to draw(and better-looking). I like this new style of drawing, but what do you think? ![]() The people in the picture from left to right; Noriko, Ayame and just a random character(maybe I'll think of a name for her too). They're not in their school uniforms, as you probably noticed. And they have more clothes than usual, too...! ![]()

| Gah, that reply I wrote seemed alot shorter when it was in this little box thing... sorry... And if you don't have manga software that's fine, I'm a total technoklutz myself (Note how I have to tame my scanner with a club ^_^) But yay for you for practicing! I don't have nearly as much steam for critiquing today, but I'll try. You seem to do pretty well with hands, but the positions of the fingers on the hand that Ayame has over Noriko's shoulder are awkward. You've improved the head shape, which was probably pretty easy, and seem to have decided on an eye style, which is good. The eyes for guys and girls in a manga style are usually different though, because if girly eyes get stuck on a guy, he tends to look like a girl, so now try to develop a style for guy's eyes in a "manga style" (it feels weird to say that...) Actually, based on that last group of army guy sketches, I think you could just use that style for drawing the majority of your guys for a manga, as long as you change the nose and only put in the wrinkles and creases on the face for older characters. Bishounen aren't really included in this majority, so that should probably be your next big obstacle. I like how you're making very defined hairstyles for your characters (back to talking about the girls), although the hair of the unnamed girl is a little mismatched (the bangs are very big and classically anime, while the back is much more detailed) and kinda messy. If it's supposed to be messy for her character, that's fine, but a more unified hairstyle would look better. And although I love your ability to draw the wrinkles in clothing, the sleeves on Noriko's shirt are a little overkill. Trying not to clutter the characters' images with too many lines, but still include detail is a kind of balance every artist has to try and reach. This is going to be another insanely long comment isn't it... *sigh* Oh well. I finally got one of my pictures to scan, so look for my own thread of pictures! (dadaDAAA... COMING SOON!) The pencil work's kinda rough though *sigh again*

| wow,... you leave me speechless,... i really like how you draw the wrinkles on the shirt- i wish i could do that too your very detailed and thats good- i really liked the one with the city,... i can also tell that you like mini skirts- there is nothing wrong with that though... just like what others say- you only need to draw the faces beautifully-im not saying that the faces of your drawings are ugly- and you'll be perfect!- well,.. not really perfect cos there is no perfect thing in the world- may i suggest that you practice drawing the eyes open often till' you get used to drawing open eyes-... trust me, it works.... | Very sharp of you to notice that I like miniskirts! I know that I'm better at drawing realistically, but it's not as much fun, since that's what I've been doing for 10 years(or trying at least). I'll just have to draw more... if I have the time, since I'll have to go to army at July 7th! I hope I can get some time to draw there too...

| i really liked how you did the hair and clothes (a lot of the time, the clothes i draw look terrible). oh and that mechanical arm's good too (i never draw mechanical stuff because i'm no good at it). i agree with the others in saying that the faces (especially the eyes) could use work. you can try what i do sometimes: draw the eyes first. that way, they'll fit the character because the character will have been determined by them. then they'll look less emotionally flat and more true to the personality. |
