Default Gemma Doyle Trilogy

I searched for a thread about those books and didn't find one.

I just recently finished reading all three books and instantly loved them.
Plot -- It was very interesting, and didn't end that way I thought it was going to be.
Characters -- By the end of the last page I ended up liking most of the characters. My favorite would have to be Ann, Gemma, Felicity, or Pippa. I guess it's a tie.
Romance -- Some very predictable pairings, and then some that weren't as predictable.

Overall, I absolutely loved all three books. Even though all my friends say that nothing beats Twilight, I've read the books myself, this trilogy tops it in my opinion.
Has anyone else read it? If you did and disagree with me, go ahead. I don't mind different opinions.

I agree! I loved those books, they were so dark and complex but not overly melodramatic. My favorite characters were Gemma, Felicity, Pippa and The Gorgon! Which of the three was your favorite, mine was a close one but i really loved the last one (the second would be next) This is one series were the sequels dont disappoint. Does anyone know what the series is called or is it really the Gemma Doyle Trilogy?

They were dramatic in a nice way. In a very realistic way. The characters relationships were so very real. Their personalities were very well rounded. They were all broken in a way and that's what I love about them. None of them were perfect.
The last one is my fav out of the three. The ending was just so satisfying. Even if it didn't end that way I wished it had, the actual ending left me with a sense of satisfaction. Like there were no loose ends. I'm embarassed to say this, but I had a tear in my eye when I read the last book.
According to Wikipedia, Gemma Doyle Trilogy is what the series is called. I might have to check the author's website or something.

I thought it was a great trilogy. I'm still finishing up the third, "The Sweet Far Thing" But so far, it's great.

Default Kartik?

Was anyone else who's read The Sweet Far Thing disappointed by what happened to Kartik? I definitely was!

I've never anticipated the whole Gemma/Karik romance to have a happy ending. It was just too star crossed, if that works, to have a happy ending in my opinion. I love the pairing though, one of my favorites.
I was a little disappointed about what had happened to Kartik, but not enough to destory the whole ending for me. Other than that the ending was pretty good.
On a side note, Felicity/Pippa is like the only Yuri pairing I like. I never suspected that they liked each other in that way in the first book at all.

Yeah, I guess that I should've know that Kartik and Gemma wouldn't end up happily together...It just seemed sort of foreseen, but only if you really thought about it.
Wow, Felicity and Pippa was surprising...I suspect it either.

Gemma and Kartik relationship had a sad ending but their love just seemed very real. It didn't seem fake like some other pairings in other books.
I didnt' suspect Felicity/Pippa because Felicity was making out with that gypsy dude in the first book. I thought she was into guys. Turns out I was wrong.
