| This thread is solely for those of you who have ALREADY read the 4th and last installment to the Twilight series; Breaking Dawn. I have no urge to type :SPOILER: over and over in this thread, so if you haven't read the book and you don't want any surprises taken away, then don't read any further. I'd like to know if you enjoyed this book, because frankly, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Since it was the last in the series and an impressive 700+ pages long, I expected a big BANG! kind of ending, but all I got was a wimpy pop! I don't want to be accused of flaming or criticizing the book, I'm just voicing my opinion. Now, who else was anticipating a heart pounding battle with the Volturi that would settle the fate of the supernatural world? I certainly was. But what did I get? I got a stupid truce. S.M. built up loads of anticipation while everyone was getting ready for their death when the Volturi came, but there was none. (Except Irina, but truthfully, she didn't appear enough in the book for me to care about her :P) If I had to use one word to describe what I thought of Breaking Dawn, it would be... Disappointing. I'm not saying I didn't adore Bella's awesome vampire-ness, the lovable hybrid baby Renesmee, or the unnecessary loveydovey scenes, but I was severely let down when I learned that there wasn't going to be a breath taking battle full of intense descriptions thanks to Bella's newly heightened sense, and that there wasn't going to be a tear-jerking dramatic ending that was both sad yet fulfilling at the same time. I, personally, am sick and tired of the "Happily Ever After" kind of endings. And for crying out loud, the last chapter was even titled "The Happily Ever After". My eyes nearly fizzled out of their sockets when I read that in the Table of Contents. In my opinion, the whole story went too smoothly for its own good. Yes, yes, yes, I know what you're thinking. "Bella nearly dying because of the birth of her human-vampire baby was not 'smooth'!" "Jacob breaking apart from the pack was a major conflict!!" I hear you, and I'm not disagreeing with you. I LOVED the first half of the story, even the part in Jacob's POV (and that's saying alot). I'm just saying that the conflict was resolved so easily that it wasn't truly believable. Alright, if you stuck around and held your temper long enough to read through my rant, then I thank you. The only thing I ask is for you not to say that I'm ungrateful and that if I didn't like the book, I shouldn't be complaining about it; because I did like the book, I'm just venting my feelings about it. PS: I am aware of the fact that there is another thread about Breaking Dawn, but this thread is strictly for those who have already read the book and for discussing certain aspects of it.

| i hat you. x12. | I loved the way it was split into Book One, Book Two, and Book Three. And I loved Book One and Book Two (Jacob's POV was kind of intense; I liked it). But Book Three was disappointing. I also am very much sick of Happily Ever After kind of endings, and this one was, yeah, even titled "The Happily Ever After." The first two parts of the book made it my favorite book of the series. That's how much I liked them. The third part was like a... I don't know. It wasn't as good as I think it could have been. I stayed up until six in the morning this morning reading up 'til about halfway through Book Three (I got the book last night). But it wasn't as good to me, so I decided to go to sleep. And I just now finished it, and eh, I'm kind of glad I got my sleep in; it wasn't worth staying up 'til nine in the morning or something ![]() Honestly, I didn't have very high standards for this book to begin with. In fact, so many people hate me because I'm really critical of the series -- I love it to bits and pieces, but I can't help but criticize it. But honestly, the first two parts were so incredible, I honestly loved them completely. I noticed two-three "mistakes" in the writing (weird spacing, grammatical error thing, etc) which is pretty incredible for 754 pages (or however many it is) when I was picking them out like crazy in Eclipse and New Moon. Maybe the third part of the book wasn't necessarily bad, but in comparison to the first two parts, it was a let down. Everything was fast and intense and incredible in the second part, and it just leads you into... this slowed, not-as-intense kind of thing. And I was sort of hoping her way of naming the last chapter was some form of irony or something -- you know, not a real Happily Ever After kind of ending. But of course, it had to be the real deal and named properly. x_x I'm not sure what I would have preferred the ending to be, but it wasn't this one that we got. Oh, well. Completely adoring 2 out of 3 parts of the book isn't so bad. Since I loved Jacob's POV part so much, I'm going to consider this my favorite book of the series. Or maybe just tie it with the original, Twilight. Also, I haven't been able to sleep well for about a week and a half, because I've been having a crazy-insane dream and waking up all scared and stuff. And I might have absolutely adored the first part of the book because the dreams Bella was having was so similar to my own dreams that it was a little more than a little creepy. ![]()

| Glad I found this thread because no one I know has finished the book and I don't want to spoil them with my rants. First off I didn't have that high of an expectation for the book. Partly because the series is thought of as just beyond amazing and "Nothing will ever top it" by my friends, that it has turned me off to the series. I didn't have that high of an expectation, but I still had them. As I read through the book, and after reading Carlisle's speal about Immortal Children and hearing that Bella was pregnant with Edward's child, I immediately thought: Volturi Fight! I was anticipating this so much, that I forced myself to read through all of book 2's very repeatitive dialouge. Or at least it seemed that way to me. Book 1(ignoring all the loveydovey stuff in the begining) definitely set up the mood for something very dramatic. Book 2 delivered in a way, though it was in Jacob's POV. Now Book 3 could have been a major BAM! thing, but it wasn't and I'll tell you why. Bella being turned into a vampire was no big surprise, but the fact that everything was just so easy for her made me shy away from it. It seemed too perfect. How she could just controll everything, her emotions and needs so soon. It seemed unrealistic. Jacob imprinting on Reneesme was a bit weird at first, but you get used to it. I had to qualms with that. And then this little thing called PLOT started showing its face. Everyone is panicking, Alice disappears, and Bella discovers her newfound talent. The Volturi fight is going to happpen, my mind was telling me so I was looking forward to that. Then this thing called LOVEYDOVEY interrupted PLOT, but I could deal. When things started picking up again, and Bella found out that Jacob and Reneesme might not survive I was going, this is the ultimate dramatic ending. After a few chapters, the Volturi appear and I was sorely let down. It was mostly talk, no fighting. There was no awesome fight scene where everything happening was descibed in unbelievable detail, where there's a sense of hopelessness, where there would a very important character death. I truly believed that Alice would die in front of Edward and Bella, triggering some very violent reactions from the both. In the end I was happy that Alice did not die, as I like her character, but the ending was very.....can I say bland? Everyone lived happily ever after. Quite frankly I've had it with Happily Ever Afters. There was so much build up for something dramatic, over the top wow, heart crushing sadness that when you read that last page, you get left with a feeling of disappointment. A bittersweet ending where no one is living Happily Ever After would have satisfied me. If you got this far in my little rant, congrats to you. I liked the book, but I'm not so in love with it as to accept everything with a smiling face. I don't hate the book, nor the series. I just have criticism about it. So please don't kill me. Hopefully this makes sense becasue I'm exhausted right now.

| Thank you everyone for being as opinionated as I am! I'm grateful that MangaFox isn't full of Twilight fans who automatically assume the series is THE BEST EVER and don't actually consider the faults of the books. @Hatyou-I'm so glad I'm not the only one who was picking out all the tiny spelling and grammar mistakes ![]() @Nekocross-I'm looking forward to the movie as well, but their choices for Bella and Edward really disappointed me... @Vampirelover1229-I completely agree with everything you said ^^ Hopefully, as more people read the book, you'll post on here and tell me your honest opinion. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! x]

| I loved Breaking Dawn, its just that she could have made it alot better I wanted the story to go out with a bang, but it was still cool! I just wished she would have made it longer; i didnt like the whole problem being resolved easily, she could of did an epilogue to the story about wat happens later on after the ending and i wanted there some sort of fight scene going on, that would have been more exciting , but other than those things i stated i still loved the book!! Just didnt want the book to end at 4 volumes she could have at least prolonged the story.....but it was her choice and i have to accept that I have to go look for a new series to read now![]() |

| Junior Member | "Since it was the last in the series and an impressive 700+ pages long, I expected a big BANG! kind of ending, but all I got was a wimpy pop!" - KiraKira-chan @ KiraKira-chan....you took the words out of my mouth...no, LITERALLY! I just finished the book a few hours ago at my friend's house (who has no interest in the Twilight series and has never read any of them) and I was explaining to her what I thought about the book. This is what I said, word for word (as far as I can remember!) ~"I didn't like the book as much as I thought I would." _ me "Why?" _ Friend "Because, this is the LAST book of the Twilight series...and it disappointed me. I was expecting the book to end with a BANG! (and yes, I did say bang) but all I got was a measly....poof...." _ me "Explain that, please." _Friend (she doesn't really read all that much and couldnt really fathom disappointment in a book. According to her, why in the world would someone even read a book with high hopes for it?!....yes, shes a very deprived child! )"Its like when you get all hyped up about lighting some fireworks, and you set if off, covering your ears expecting sonic booms, running away screaming excitedly...but all you get is a stinkin' fizzle, pop, and its over! Damn wet fireworks..."_ me and the conversation continued like that, with me ranting about the book... But I couldnt agree with you anymore...but you dont understand, I absolutely LOVED Twilight to bits and pieces, and then I read New Moon...and they became my bibles. But after reading Eclipse, I almost cried....it was HORRIBLE! The book disgusted me (the first half was good though), then Bella began acting like a absolute whore, declaring her love for Edward, then running to Jake to make out passionately, the running back to Edward and explaining how she was torn between the two, then running back to Jake, then back to Edward only to rip her clothes off and demand that he have sex with her! And Edward....my Edward...god....he was being TOO thoughtful! But oh so disappointing....he was actually willing to share Bella, just because SHE can be HAPPY! I was thinking at that point...that slut deserves neither of them, existing only to deliver pain onto those two helpless hearts (though they had the ability to walk away at any point). I wasnt too happy with Jake at that point either. Still...i waited eagerly for Breaking Dawn...only to be disappointed AGAIN!!! I hate to criticize, and Im not flaming...but god...the book was such a disappointment. And I can't agree with you more when you talked about the unnecessary love scenes...or rather, sex scenes...I was one of the few who found great enjoyment in Edward and Bella's chaste but loving relationship...I loved how one touch evoked feelings of love in Bella, and it was only a touch. Their relationship was so much deeper than others because it was more than just a physical relationship, rather than bodies connecting, their souls connected. I was so disappointed when SM threw sex into the equation and suddenly their relationship [i]needed[i] sex...it was touches were no longer only to convey love, but abruptly, sex became a neccesity, something they couldnt "live" without.....and although it was the only way for Renesme to come into being (I love the adorable girl!) it disgusted me to no end...-sigh- Im done with talking about Breaking Dawn right now...but rest assured that they arent my only complaints against the book....I'll be back....(with an Arnold Swarzeneggar accent...wait, did I ever spell that right?! lol) |

| @blissfulmemories-WE THINK ALIKE! X] I don't exactly agree with you thinking that Bella is a slut or anything, (though I think she should have made up her freakin mind a little sooner) but I totally understand what you were saying about the love through touch, not through sex. It really disappointed me...I seem to be hearing that word alot...? And I'll be waiting for your later opinions =)

| Oh my gosh, how the heck did I forget to mention all the sex scenes and all that junk in my post? By the way, I completely agree with you, except the whole Bella being a complete slut thing. And KiraKira-Chan, I completely agree about her making up her mind quicker. We would have avoided so many chapters of her going betweed Edward and Jacob that way. Their, Edward and Bella's, relationship was much more meaningful when it wasn't like, 'Oh one minute passed without us doing it so let's interrupt the story to do it." It made me dislike their relationship, even though I liked it a great deal, because love through touch was more fitting. Just touching and nothing else made it special. (ugh my vocab is failing me today!) Everything that I liked about it (no just because it's Bella and Edward isn't the reason why I liked their relationship) kinda went bye-bye when sex was like the one thing they couldn't live without. DISAPPOINTMENT...would be the word used to describe what happened after they just had to have sex every chapter or something. (excluding Book Two of course). Did we mention that word already? LOL.

| Thanks Kira-san for making this thread! You guys have the same opinions as i do. Especially about the way it ended and basically book 3. I really liked most of Book 1 and all of Book 2(loved it, im a Jacob fan so I was happy that one of the tensest part was told from his perspective), but 3 was a little wishy-washy for me. Nothing cool or unexpected happened. I really didnt think she would write a huge fight scene at the end (really popular books have strict deadlines) but i really wanted maybe a cool one on one fight that would end the conflict with a Bang!(Sorry, but thats the perfect way to describe it) But all we got was a tense chit chat and the Volturi (cant spell it...) leaving with there tails between there legs. The other thing that bothered me was Jacob imprinting on Rennesme. It made my head spin (not in the good way) I dont like how neatly tied up the end was, except for the biggest conflict of the book! They never explain why the Volturi cant (or wolnt) attack again. Sure that was a major blow to there pride, but I dont see why they wolnt regroup and try and deal with the Cullens by less oficall means....(If im missing something feel free to complain) If you read all that....Im impressed, have a cookie -> ( :: )
