I don't have favorite author's the same way I don't have favorite bands/singers/just about everything else.
If I read a certain book that I end up absolutely loving written by a certain author, I won't go and read every other book by the same author. I will most likely end up liking a book written by the same author if I find it interesting. If that same author has a book that I read and end up hating, it's not gonna be on my fave list, but that doesnt' mean I hate every other book the author has written. (okay is this making sense?) A list of author's that have at the least 3 books on my fav list:
Libba Bray
Scott Westerfield
C. S. Lewis
J. K. Rowling (first 3 books)
Meg Cabot
Jane Austen
The list would be longer if I could remember more author's. Right now I'm just scanning the bookshelf in my room, my other books are in the guest room.

J. D. Salinger
Aldous Huxley
Nathaniel Hawthorne
Jane Austen
... many many more

BUT on an interesting note- i do fancy (a lot) reading JSTOR with its many articles dealing with almost every kind of concept, idea or theory a researcher could come up with.

JSTOR? I use that all the time! Next to arXiv, I get about all printed (as opposed to preprint) material from it! Ok, that was off topic...

I have this Bantam compilation of the unabridged Sherlock Holmes complete! Its timeless as it is masterful; Poirot was never quite so good or as well portrayed!
