My favorite was definitely Sugimura, although his martial arts in the manga were a bit too shounen-esque, i felt he was a student i truly loved because he was just so kind in the inside. I also felt bad that he encountered almost EVERY single insane violent student through his journey to find kotohiki.
Although i think he should have hooked up with Chigusa >>;; she's so badass.
Second would be Shougo~

The student I can relate to was Yuka Nakagawa, the one who ate the poisoned food. Her personality would be something i would have.

-Most hated: Froggy. Couldnt stand him. Motobuchi and the dude with the machete was pretty bad too. I could pity all the other students, but these ones i truly despised.

As for who should have survived: ... Not sure. I wish Shougo pulled through.

I'd say that my favorite was Mimura, since he had a calm head throughout everything that happened. And even though his guts were spilling out and his foot was shot off, he was still able to detonate the bomb. Adding to that, even on the verge of death, he had a back-up plan (the "clutch shot").

I also hated Froggy the most. I can sympathize with some of what he says, like when he points out that as a violinist, he got forced applause whereas Shuuya got scream and cheers when he played the guitar. I really couldn't get over how egotistical he was just because he was lucky enough to be born into a rich family.

I felt sorry for Hardcore Souma. She's a criminal, sure, but it's not her fault. The insight on the relationship with her father towards the end was really tragic, especially how she still loved him and wanted to help him after he all he had put her through. Her demise was really tearjerking, because even in her final, delusional moments, she's still craving her father's love. It really pissed me off how Kiriyama didn't just put her out of her misery but instead blew the ring right off her hand.

I can relate to Shougo most. It's funny how at the beginning of the story, I thought to myself that Shuuya should try to eliminate everyone but Noriko and then off himself to let Noriko live. It just happens that Shougo had planned to do the same in the first Program. I also understand his desire to stay hidden and avoid attention, even if it may save some people's lives.

I felt Yoshi should have survived. He was the shy, innocent type and did nothing more than stand up for people and got killed. But killing off such an important character early on gives you that sense that it not just some typical manga plot where the good guys all survive--instead, it shows you just how real this game is. People are playing for their lives, not for your reading entertainment.

I liked Kiriyama in the manga best. He is a rare and interesting character. ( Although in the movie he was just a boor, who had fun finishing of others, which I disliked.) And also Mitsuko was an exciting character to follow.

I don`t think I hated any of the characters. Maybe Yuko a bit, but I couldn`t stay mad at her for long, because things turned out to be .... sad. I think Battle Royale needed characters like Kazushi Niida and T. Oda to show , that all people are different and think on their own level.

I can realte to Kawada the most, but I don`t know what I would have done if I had to go through the program the second time. And I think I have a bit of Kiriyama in me too

The most shocking was of course Mimura`s death. But I admire how determined and strong he was.

Let`s be honest, if this manga didn`t need a happy ending ( if you can even call it that way) Kiriyama would have won. Or maybe Mitsuko or Kawada if they had been lucky.

I liked Kiriyama and Mimura the best.

I hated Mitsuko and most of the other characters.

I think I can kind of relate to Kiriyama.

And I felt sorry for hmm.. most of the others students with heartbreaking stories of their past lives.

I think Kiriyama should have at least survived at the end.

Kiriyama, the way he could just learn about something and apply it automatically. He seemed a bit autistic now that I think about it.....either way it's Kiriyama

everyone, each in a different way. well except those in the light-house incident.

Yuichiro, since he was so nice as to almost change souma but he was caught in a bad situation specially when she sat on him >___> death by very squishy butt......

I don't think I should be answering this, everyone deserved to live, yet they had to die to serve the purpose of helping character development for Shuuya and others. But to be honest Kiriyama or Shuuya, Kiriyama since he actually did the game played it (very) well it's almost a deserving win. Shuuya because he wanted the rest of the wrold to know about the "program" and even if another country knew about the 'program' they can't do anything unless they have such real proof as Shuuya going up and telling them he was in it.

I liked Kiriyama. He and his super awesome coat and ability to randomly pop up behind someone and shoot them in just a way that they have time to flashback.

I hated Hirono. I don't know why really. I think it was mostly because of the fact I don't think hairdo worked with her skipping about in her underwear. Trying to take Mitsuko's job of the crazy girl running around nude! Why, I never!

I related best to Yuichiro, I think. An otaku who is bad with guns and gets killed off by a hottie. >o< That's how my BR battle ends. Either that or I'd pull a Kiriyama.

I felt sorry for Keiko. Kawada is a meanie! He shot her and she just tried to protect him. ;.; Of course, I feel pretty sorry for Kawada, too. Since he figured that out and stuff.

I wanted Kiriyama to survive. I mean, how cheap. Three on one? AND he was the only person that they killed. Kiriyama killed practically everyone else, except the most notable lighthouse group.
