hmm, good question, but i think that you are wrong. i think that
Renji has the higher level of ability, and if it comes down to a
show of bankai, than i have to give the advantage to Renji, who

also ikkaku bankai is way cooler

Guy could be captain, but he chooses not to because he's a crazy Zaraki fanboy!

Renji needs to REALLY train his Bankai if he even wants a chance!

lol this isn't even a question, by renji's own admission, ikkaku.

ikkaku taught renji everything he(renji) knows, but not everything HE(ikkaku) knows, because he couldn't learn it all. and he was training him up until he left squad 11, and renji still wasn't a match for him, and even back then, ikkaku knew bankai. and, honestly, i'm kinda worried about him and yuchimichika (yea i know it's wrong lol) they hiding WAY too many of their abilities from everyone. hell ikkaku doesn't even know yuchi's zanpaktou's true ability. who's to say how much more practice he's actually gotten with the thing. and no telling what would happen if he just stops caring about releasing it.

besides, renji's bankai is useless against two types of fighters, a fighter with great speed or a berserker. because they would just get in close to him, if he can't keep u at a distance, zabimaru is useless, at least in shikai he could retract it to use as a sword. and from what i took from how he explained it, ikkaku's bankai is like the hulk in terms of raw power, more dmg that's inflicted both ways, the stronger it becomes, but only their attack raises, not their defense, since he still got bloodied and the zanpaktou was started to take damage as well. but yea, maybe renji is still in his first form of bankai like how byakuya has so many different stages. but he does need to train, seems like every since rukia's execution he's all of a sudden contempt with his power. the guy doesn't train anymore. he trains chad.....wtf?! slacker!

Yeah, I agree I think it would be Ikkaku
He has more experience with his banki and wasn't he the one who helped Renji with his banki?
Also Renji just learned banki and when he was fighting against Byakuya he said that Renji still had several more years until he completly mastered the movements of his banki
Plus Ikkaku just seems to be overall more experienced and stronger.
The only reason he is a third seat is because he wants to stay fighting under Zaraki and Yachiru is already assistant captin.

Ikkaku's had bankai longer than Renji, so at that level he has experience on his side.
Of course this all depends whether there's anyone other than Yumichika and Keigo in the audience, lol- Ikkaku would refuse to go bankai, Renji probably wouldn't too and then it'd be a closer match than with Ikkaku and Renji giving their all (ie- bankai)! (incidentally, it seems to be the case that Yachiru is stronger than Ikkaku at least with Shikai!)

That aside, Hyourinmaru in bankai is just awesome, most of Zabimaru's attacks we've seen can be countered with it.

Oh and if Yumichika achieves bankai (by promising his zanpaktou 20 hours a day in front of a mirror or something

) this dude would be crazy strong! I mean already he beat Hisagi (who seems the most all rounded of the lieutenants) by DRAINING his reiatsu! (if someone more impressive had this power- it'd probably be considered 'absolute hypnosis'-class!)

ahh so i'm not the only one who thinks ikkaku and yuchi are two sneaky bastards lol. they got some real power to them... if they only actually used it lol.

but as far as yachiru goes, i got money that says she's actually stronger than kenny. i dunno. it just fits. probably the reason why she wasn't scared when she first met him was because her reiatsu was stronger....she herself just didn't realize it. but in any case, don't ya think it's funny how squad 11 is the "savage" squad. they the combat division all about a good fight and everything and seen as the brutes. but their members are COMPLETELY loyal to one another and ESPECIALLY loyal to zaraki. lol even former members of the squad can't sever ties with it. yet all the "noble" captain been having betrayals and problems within the ranks. 11th squad got their own rules and u never hear problems from them lol

yeah I agree that Ikkaku earlier was stronger than renji and tought him how to fight. But now it is Renji who is the strongest. Reb=nji had a goal, to surpas byakuya, and he trained harder than enyone else. When Ichigo went to save rukia at soul society he fought against ikkaku and Renji, and we all saw that the batlle betwen Ichigo and Renji was smore powerfull than with Ikaku. Renji looked far stronger than Ikkaku. as for Bankai Renji can now also control it very well.
