I really like this series , it's a very touching story about the search for the one just for a persocon like Chii . But the ending was a bit disappointing...

My eyes go when I read/watch that her on button was down there >.>
Though it was funny, enough to make me roll down my chair, laughing at the same time

I'm fairly new to manga in general. I've only completed one series (Absolute Boyfriend, which I loved and surprisingly made me teary at times). I've seen the Chobits anime though and thought I'd give the manga a try. It goes further into the story does it not?

I'm upset with how it ended but none the less its my favorite.

If you can get so worked up by an anime/manga and still be satisfied with it enough to read it multiple times and still feel the same way about it every single time means something. I am that way with Absolute Boyfriend (Zettai Kareshi) and I would recommend it in a heart beat.

If you liked this love story about a boy and a girl robot then checkout Absolute Boyfriend which is about a girl and her boy robot.

*Yes I'm aware that they aren't called ROBOTS in either story but that is pretty much what they are....
i had the same exact thing happen to me
i stayed up everynight in a row for a week to finish chobits when shortly after i got hooked on all of yuu watase stuff , including absolute boyfriend and ayashi no ceres and imadoki and alice 19 and there is so many more works that i love of hers just cant name them all...(arent i terrible)
zettai kareshi still has a solid place in my heart as one of my most favorite, and im trying to collect it but it just isnt working very well i only have book 1 2 and 3...sigh

Hmmm, since some people are unsatisfied with the ending.
I suggest you read DearS. That's a really nice manga with a nice ending.

The story brings up some quite interesting questions... Can machines gain souls? When a person love a machine, gives that some kind of soul to it, by recognising it as something else than a machine? As something more? As some individual? Means having a soul, that you are unique? An individual beein? Or means having a soul to be recognised by someone? Maybe Chi did'nt get an own soul. Maybe Hibiki shares his soul with Chi, by loving her, by recognising her, by sharing memories with her. This Minoru said, his sister lives on in his memories. Means having a soul, that you share memories with someone else, that someone has memories about you? If you are the only living thing in your area, not being know by anyone and not in aware of anyone, do you have a soul then? What is a soul? What is it, we have, thouse persocoms don't have? Is it being able to think? Is it running free of any programm? Is it being free? Are we free? Are we free of any program, of anything like this determining our actions? One time, Hibiki compares DNA and Program. Is the DNA our Program? Or is the program we are running on, the education our parents gave us? And is their programming made by their parents? May it be, that our program is running over certuries, improving with every generation? May we be nothing else than farly inproved persocoms? Looking at a timeline we can tell, that our "models" have improved over and over again. If you stand right beside medieval human, you will recognise, that you are much taller. Maybe you even have more capacity of thinking. So not just our appeareance, our "tower" or "model" improved, our "CPU" did too. Our "database" improved, what was "saved" before as things that were told from human to human, began being "stored" in bookes, nowadays in harddisks of computers and fileservers. Our "network" improved. While in medieval times you were mostly in contact with humans from the nearby villages, I am talking to you, while you are all over the world. Even "Domains" improved from villages to citys to kingdoms to states to empires. As "domaincontroller" setting up the rules for the "domain" we got parliaments, presidents, governments giving out laws.
So what is it, that we have, some machine would never be able to have?

I could write like this for hours and hours. There won't be any answer to this question. Yet, even if we improved, the human did'nt got the "calculation capacity" to find an answer to this. Try to imagine a room of emptiness. There shall be nothing in there, really nothing. What do you see? Maybe some black or white field? But there is not nothing. There is something in the room you imagin. There is plenty of black or plenty of white. You cannot imagine of the total emptiness. No one can.
Im drifting away from the topic. Even if we cannot find an answer to them, they are very interesting questions to think about. I hope, I didnt bore you too much ^^

I really loved this. It's a really sweet love story, but one that gets readers thinking. For about 3 days after I'd completed Chobits, I found myself contemplating the question "Do robots/ artificial beings have a soul? Is is right to love them?" whenever I had free time. It's also surprisingly sad at times. It made me cry, but I read it again and again.

Lightbulb The Anwser

I think you guys are missing the whole point what exactly her special ability was. Not some little button that caused her to reset or "control over other persocoms." It was the ability to save the other persocoms if she failed to find the one special someone just for her. If she was unable to find him then the others would lose the ability to distingish differences in people and persocoms making them unable to love and feel the pain that comes with it. That was her special ability. To save others from the pain.

Default I want

I soooooo wish I a computer with (my estimate at) 127,000 terrabites of processing power, enhances the power of other electronics just by being in the same house, has the ability to instantly hack any system, and is still able to look so darn cute.
