Anyway i'm sorry dude i have to disagree D.gray-man is very original and not as dumb and repeitive as other lame prolong anime -cough-"DBZ",-cough-"inuyasha" LMAO!!!!!!!

It would be cool if Allen has a darker side, I mean his "righteousness to the max" character is too boring. And no being evil at playing cards don't count.

I dunno, lots of characters seems boring and uninteresting, some of them are pretty decent. But the series already has been going on for a while now, some kind of twist or character change should be presented. Or else this would be like the gothic version of Naruto.

Tigerfantom: I'm was just as shocked as you to read that about D Gray Man's lack of originality. I've never seen anything like this, and I've read _a lot_ of manga, although more shoujo than shounen since I like fantasy stories and hate mecs.

Ilana: Yes, there are other series where dead souls are resurrected and become evil, but I haven't seen anything like the machine akuma that the Earl creates and their evolution. Also, the entire conception with the Noahs and the new world order the Earl is trying to establish is well-thought-out and original in its conception. What other series can you point to that are similar to this one? Because if there are others, I'd love to read them (seriously).

Phenix: Allen does have a darker side. He has been acting quite righteous as of late, since he's been spending so much time battling powerful akuma (and it took forever to defeat the Level 4). But there is a great darkness in his heart, so great that it caused him to turn his most important person (Mana) into an akuma. Also, the curse on his eye, his acceptance of its dark power, and its evolution like akuma connect him directly with the Earl and his akuma.

I would disagree. Like the member above me pointed out, Allen does have that dark side.

I would also disagree with the boring characters, though. Lenalee is actually a refreshing change from the standard shounen heroines (one you know, she actually gets her own epic battles and such). Lavi's past is also fairly interesting, and Krory and Miranda can hold solid ground on their own has characters. Kanda often treads on the line of being too stereotypical, but even he is without a doubt an interesting, dynamic character.

Unless you were referring to their backstories needing to get a move on, in which case I wholeheartedly agree with you XP

(The series is only 157 chapters, though. Bleach has got like... 20-something volumes =P)

It's just a opinion.
And i also think mangas like Inuyasha and Bleach lacks originality as well as D.g-m (even if D.g-m it's better than the others two). That whole shounen thing: gentle and innocent boy as the main character, fight, fight, fight, a secondery character with cold and violent personality, a fucking-terrible-strong-enemy with sadistic persons that don't care to kill hundreds and thousands of people, blah blah blah. It's just almost all the shounens mangas has this things. ô.ó The only manga of this new generation that i really thinked that had something different was FullMetal Alchemist, but even it is startint to get boring, just like One Piece, Inu-yasha and stuff.

If you think that DGM is the coolest manga of the World, you can think it. But this is a forum for discussion and i just put what i think to everyone see another kind of point of view.

Oh, yeah, if you want somethin' really diferent, try Monster or Vagabond, and also Blade of the Immortal. Even Count Cain as something more (well, but it's not that good. XDD It's kind of boring and cofusing sometimes).

Wow! Lavi is one of the most intersting characters i have met! *__*

He as a very intrigating past and a misterious personality. Also, he fighted (and winned!)with one of the most powerfulls villians of the manga (well, here in Brazil her name was translated for Rodhe) XDD. We don't see much secondarys fighting so nicely like this!

For it, he is my favorite!

But Renalee(here in Brazil is Linali XDD but the pronuciation of it it's pretty much the same) is a shame. The only thing she does is cry. >< Irritating!

Well, that's it. I hope you all find discuting this manga with me intersting, cause i'm think your opinions cools, ya know?

Ilana!!! I wasn't mad I was just in utter shock you know that's all. I respect your opinnion as well as everyone's opinnion here. But Lavi is cool though he went too dam hard firing his Hell fire attack on the earl and the noah's like really who has the balls to do that seriously, he was injured, had thousands of lv 3's around and he fires his attack..WOW!!!!

MY favorite character is linali though i mean she cool she got those hooker boots destroying akuma. I wish she fights a noah or someone else who's powerful to show that she is indeed a strong fighter, becuase ppl sleep on her, but I believe she proved herself in that fight with the lv 3 using his own power against him i mean who else who have thought of that not kanda nor allen. Wow i just though of something what if she fights tiki in his true form???

oh and baka mochi there is a book called d.gray-man reverse that talks about charcters back story...now if only someone would provide that ere on this sight!!!!

Indeed, her battle if the level 3 was pretty cool. If only she stays with that determination in all the chapters... >< I didn't liked her in the beginning and now she is just in the way, crying every time she has the chance... ¬¬

I hope the evolution of Lavi's Innocence cames soon... *_* Oh, okay, come on, we all knew that all the others characters would get it, right? Hehehe. XD

Well, it isn't a definite on an evolution with Lavi's Innocence. It's really an "If" and I seriously doubt that it's going to happen to all of them. But I would like it to happen to somebody else. And if it's Lavi, it's probably cause complications with his Bookman future.

And I really don't know when I liked Linali better. But I think now that she's got her boots back she'll cry less. I hope.

Well, I realize that Allen has a shady past and his powers are cursed or whatever but the series don't give that enough interesting hints or clues. Most of the time when they are fighting akuma you would forget them. The character's backgrounds should get more revealing now cuz watching them fighting the earl's akuma over and over is pretty boring the dark order and the noah should interact some more instead of just fight, stop and fight again. Allen's connection with the musician should be given more attention.
