| Ok...So...I have been curious as to why I have seen quite a few people on here (and perhaps on other sites as well...can't remember) say that the Death Note has like...unlimited pages. I would like to know why that is/why quite a few, if not everyone, thinks that. For now...I shall say nothing else. I'm rather curious to here your thoughts on this and then I shall say my part ~Which is that it's not true and that I have proof of it. But...we shall get to that later. This matter has been bugging me a bit and I wanna know what has lead so many to this conclusion~ Btw, in case someone thinks that I only have proof from 1 thing...such as the anime and that it's different in the manga. I have proof from 2 things...3 kinda cuz since it's not exactly part of the real story I don't exactly consider it part of the manga. Also, I shall post my proof at midnight tonight (or right before i go to sleep...whichever comes first) that way I won't be waiting days to post it. lol. So yeah, feel free to post afterwards, perhaps even correct my proof that i end up presenting if you wish/find proof against it. ~waits~ Last edited by Shadow_Phoenix : 07-23-2008 at 03:53 PM. |

| Ok...so this is the way I understood it. In Chapter 103, 104, or 105 Near mentions something; the same thing he also says in the anime on episode 37. He made a fake Death Note for Mikami, yes. He also before that had replaced all the pages of the original fake when he had at first thought it was real. But, he also states that once he found the real Death Note he replaced the whole thing. If someone is capable of replacing all the pages in the death note then that would therefore mean that there's no way it could have infinite pages. As for my 3rd part as...partial proof. the proof that i have that is only from the manga but from the part i don't totally consider the manga. The pilot one. The one without Light. I'm not totally sure as to whether or not is keeps to this part in the real one or not, but it states in that one that it has a certain amount of pages in it. I don't remember how many, but I do know it gave a specific amount. Also, as for it never seemed to run out of pages as someone said. I mean...you could easily fit about 200 names on one sheet of paper. even more if it's in japanese writing. i mean...the symbols used for names and stuff are pretty small. so...you could probably write around 400 or more on one page if you do it right. Also, you must also think about the fact that after around episode 20 something, Light didn't make it a habit (if he ever did it again) to write in his original notebook. He had Misa's. And Misa didn't do many killings. She only killed to get Lights' attention, protect herself (which was like...once.) and also as Light commanded. So of course it seemed as if it never ran out. He had 2 notebooks. and he rarely wrote causes of death. most were by heart attack. so it's not like he often needed room for details or times. OH! BTW! Surely people on here either have the manga, remember, or have better computers than mine. Does anyone here know what chapter Light's dad died in? I think it shows his lifespan (Light's i mean) in that part and I was kinda hoping it'd help me out with something. I'm pretty sure it was showed in the anime and...seeing as how it was kinda important cuz it made him think Light wasn't Kira, I'm thinking it was probably shown in the manga too. Help is appreciated! ^-^ Last edited by Shadow_Phoenix : 07-24-2008 at 06:17 AM. |

| Ok. So I was watching the anime tonight and caught something that Ryuk said and then thought afterwards I'd check out the manga and see if he says it there as well. Ryuk says, "I have to stay until either you die or the Death Note is filled." Notice the "or the Death Note is filled" part. How could a notebook with an infinite number of pages be filled, hm? And if you think i'm taking it out of context from the manga, here. Death Note 5 page 04 | One Manga Also, I would like to know where exactly it says that it has infinite pages. Cuz if that is true then it contradicts itself, wouldn't you say? And when I say, "I would like to know" I would very much appreciate it if a chapter or page of a chapter or even link would be told instead of just, "in the manga" or something. Even if you're not sure of the chapter and think it's in one of 3 or 4 chapters...that's better than leaving all 110 chapters up for investigation. |

| Man Behind the Curtain | Yah. Well, if you took the block of pages out of the cover, then the pages could remain limitless independent of the cover, which never did anything except change what alphabet it said 'Death Note' in, anyway. Ryuk said 'notebook is used up' very early in the manga, in my translation; I don't know what the Japanese was or whether is specifically suggested 'using up' the pages in the book. And there is a rule, one of the many, many rules listed between the chapters, that reads 'The number of pages in the Death Note will never be used up.' That is the reason for the puzzling conviction. Too tired to go looking for it now. It was in the first half of the series, before L died, I think. I'll go poking around tomorrow, maybe. My opinion? Author's oversight. Gave Ryuk that line near the beginning, but then to thoroughly close off even the remote possibility of the headache 'Aaaaaah! Kira has no more murder-paper! Story ends!' they threw in the rule that made the book infinitely self-regenerating, like a shounen fighting anime character. ![]() |

| Man Behind the Curtain | XD Uh...you got me. Except that since it was just Ryuk talking in the beginning, we can assume he was being sloppy and didn't mean quite what he seemed to. >> So we can kindasorta resolve the paradox in favor of infinite pages, but not the other way. |
