now i'm not talking about the characters personality-wise [cus we all know light went a little kooky at the end]...i'm talking about kira vs. the current justice.

do you think that light should've won? or were you rooting for L/near/mello?
i was actually rooting for light, cus if i was in his position, i'd do the same thing...
i felt that if the world was ruled by kira, it'd be a lot better...

I was also backing Light through the series, but I always knew he'd die in the final episode. At least, it'd be so unfitting if he didn't.

However, that's not to say that I think Light *should* have won. Quite the contrary. Firstly, the death penalty is too extreme and unfair, and secondly, Light wanted to be a dictator, a god, and all people should reject that on principle, no matter how strongly they feel about different issues. We can never concentrate so much power in a single person and nor should any single person accept such a power.

Although, in another sense, Light *should* have won in the sense that he was smart enough not to fall into Near's trap. All he had to do was to tell Mikami to take a page out of the notebook for when he needs to be absolutely sure that someone gets killed, and then his plan works in the final episode. Near was also careless not to consider this possibility.

all through out the series i was on his side
yea killing is bad but the criminals deserve it thats what i think

"definitely yes.
i think that what light did was the right thing, & i'd proabably do the same...
it's not that i think killing is neccesarily a good thing, but sometimes, you have to make sacrifices for the greater good...
i wouldn't kill anyone who didn't deserve it though...
if the world was ruled by kiras & death notes, it would be purer and free of corruption...
isn't that kind of world what we should aim for?
i mean, a couple of years of cleansing with the death note, then hopefully, people would learn their lesson and quit being evil...i think it's worth it..."

it pretty much sums up why i think kira was right...
