try to think of all the mistakes that light made.

one that I noticed was that ryuk and rem were in caught on camera, ryuk in lights room durng survalence and rem during misa's confnment if any of the task force members rewatched these videos later in the the series when they could see those shingami (right before L died for rem) and in the near mello part for ryuk then everyone would know that those two were kira

Chances are that L probably stored those videos inside the database at his headquarters that he made, don't you think? And they were only in possession of the death note for a very small while before L died. And when L died, he deleted all of the files that he had saved. (If I recall correctly. So, correct me if I'm wrong. Actually. I am wrong. L didn't delete them, Watari did.)

One of his obvious mistakes was letting fear get the best of him and writing Mello's name in his own note rather than letting Mikami take care of it. Who knows? Maybe Mikami would've been able to get in contact with Raito in time to tell him that his book had been tampered with and he could call off the meeting .. or at least come up with a new plan.

I know this probably isn't what you're asking for, as it is so obvious and actually part of the plot ... but it's been a while now since I had read the series.

I still can't believe he said 'Victory is mine!' at the end there. tsk

I think one of his dumbest moves was when he gave into the ploy of the Fake L and killed him. He totally showed his @$$ on that one.

I did think of this but i also saw him watching videos at one point that were recorded I can't remember when but they might have been on tapes too

i beg to differ

without Misa, there were lots of things Light couldn't have accomplished. and Misa is the only one who managed to outlived all who were working for or with Kira/Light. Plus, she's the only one who didn't get Light into a very sticky situation, yes she maybe had a glich or two but nothing too serious till Light couldn't figure a way out. Teru Mikami was the worst! Sorry, I respect his character I'm only referring to the mistake he did.

personally, I think Light and Misa suite each other. one is way too complex and another is way too simple he needed a girlfriend that wasn't too smart to over run him and very naive to allow him to have his way all the time.

about Light's mistakes. i think Light should have just remained solo and acted on his own. trusting his subordinates was his biggest mistake. when you are someone with such power like Kira, the only way to get to the top, is depend on yourself. (and maybe Misa since she has the eyes lol)

Light's mistake? In my oppinion, it's 'cause he's too self-confident and had underestimated his enemies so much, thinking that the victory's his so soon that didn't observe the current situation unlike in the battle with L >.>

Yup. I agree with you in the last part.
He said, "Victory is mine!" while Near was there. That was a mistake from Light too, because he was too overconfident.

Don't know why, but I think his biggest mistake was when he took control of the Kira investigation. It made him powerful, yes. But because of that, Mello and Near suspected him more. Other than that, I can't think of any mistakes from him right now; his personalities is a problem too, just like Judy-chan said.
