Personally, I honestly don't know what other purpose she has besides providing an extra leg and alternative to the story. Her relationship with Light is tragic, of course, but this relationship doesn't really go anywhere--not even when he lost his memory of the Death Note.

I don't like her much. I understand that she's part of an underground subculture of some kind (her Lolita clothes and the objects seen in her dim room), and she surrounds herself with friends that are, as she states, "always interested in the cult."

So she's a cute character. But she's EXTREMELY annoying as well. Sometimes I wish I could smack her. Seriously, the Death Note series can seem very SEXIST at times. I apologize, but it's true. The women are generally young, intelligent (except in Misa's case... -__-), attractive individuals who, in the end, serve as little more than tools for Light's advent into the shining new world. Whereas men are portrayed as tough people who can fend for themselves, and meet ends.

Sorry. Just wanted to bash her a bit. She really annoys me, especially because sometimes I find myself seeing her as my polar opposite. Freaking out, squeaking, screaming out stupid blurbs, slipping up plans, screwing up stealth? I don't think so.

A lot of people like her, and I respect them for finding SOMETHING about her to like.

They should of added an over intelligent girl to the stroy to help solve the kira chase but falls for L...
Something in that case
I find she is very VERY ANNOYING! and I will smack her with you.... I think they could of done better with the girl characters

well... I like Misa for only one reason
I am very big fan of her voice actress, Aya Hirano.

I hated her american voice actress and already detested her. I started to watch the Japanese series after I couldnt wait any longer for episode 12 to come out in America and had some respect for Misa.
she killed by being such a nuisance with her tapes. Than she started talking about how she couldnt wait to meet Kira outloud in the middle of a coffee shop.

I wouldnt smack her though. She is a girl.

I assure you, the "smacking" rules differ when it's girl to girl. :(
Normally I'm not a violent person, but if someone is being irritating to the point where she's crushing the action/hindering a genius's beautifully crafted plan, THEN things might become a bit uglier.

Although, of course, I feel she doesn't necessarily deserve to die (according to your info she apparently committed suicide?)... and if I smack her around a bit, I doubt it would supplant much impact upon her intelligence.

I can picture her indignance.

To me you seem like a highly intelligent person who takes the time to think things through. I can't imagine you hitting anyone out of spite.

In fact, I can't see you doing anything negative should it be unnecessary.
