There are some mysteries in the world that I cannot figure... and about 34% of that confusion is derived from the creative pairings some people fantasize about.

Like:

L/Light (they're clearly adversaries. Is the angst that appealing? That goes to say something about humanity, doesn't it?)

Matt/Mello (only clear trust, I swear!)

Sorry... I'm not a huge fan of yaoi... not that I'm against gayness, but I'm not going to promote it.

Some other weird pairings:

Sayu/Light
Misa/L
Matsuda/Misa
Ryuk/Light <---- WTF. Please.

Just wanted to get it off my chest.

yeah...
those are all sad pairings T_T

ones that actually can make sense:
Light/Misa (its actually happened... and then its the natural pairing in Death note)
Light/Takada (Light went for this one as well... but apparently he was only using Takada =/)

Matsuda/Sayu (from what I saw... everyone could Matsuda liked Sayu. Sayu sorta liked Matsuda. The only problems were Matsuda's occupation and the age difference)
L/Misa (it would never happen. but, L sorta pretended to like Misa [yeah... he was pretending. And interesting act] and if the fans really wanted to fantasize it... Misa could like him back.

Misa and L doesnt work out... its just the way things are. Regardless, this is the only far-fetched pairing I'll accept.)

When it comes to L/Light
I HATE that pairing.
L did consider Light a friend.... a friend. And so fans have to make it something more...

Light wanted to kill L... and L, because he wouldnt accept that Light wasnt Kira, would have killed Light.
They were friends, and at the same time they were enemies. They didnt want any sorta of relationship together. I know that!

It's a natural fact that people tend to exaggerate simple things for emotional points. Fandom requires that you amp any relationship up by two-fold.... even if this means it's perverse.

They should write a written code of laws for fans (of all works, not just Death Note)... despite the HUGE amount of fanfictions, fanart, fan-pairings, etc, the variety is so lacking that it's become a thing where your fantasies fall in one category or another.

It's quite sad.

Not that I'm asking for people to mix it up a bit (God forbid Matsuda loving Light's father), but the lack of imagination is depressing.

In the end, I do NOT regret choosing the more logical path of fandom. xD

I just looked at it the way the story showed me.

I saw that Matsuda liked Sayu, Sayu liked him... that was a pairing in my opinion.
LightxMisaxTakada is the most stressed pairing in the whole series.

L, Near, and Mello and necessarily the type for being paired I dont think.

If you want you could call Raye Penbar and Naomi Misora a pairing.

I too prefer to think of it as the story represents.

I've admitted that I've had fangirl tendencies before.

To imagine other pairings or consider others makes me quite embarrassed....

even I did for the purpose of roleplaying...
that one would be L and a character from an entirely different anime...

or L and a totally made up characters (I'm always L in roleplaying... no matter what it is. L is my favorite anime character)

I like to pick on scandalous characters. Like Light xD Because he's insane, and that leaves a lot of room for imagination.

I mean that I like to use them as mediums whenever I try to incorporate a thought. Depending on the thought, things can get pretty unfortunate for the characters I choose to manipulate.
