I made this thread as an attempt to make a long list of my thoughts, beliefs, ideas, and feelings like my good friend Rjina has done and suggested.
I will be talking about my view of the characters of Death note. Starting with Light Yagami...

From the very beginning, Light seemed like a fascinating person. I have been told myself that I am like Light. After watching the entire series... I believe I might very well be.
And thats what I'm afraid of.

the Death note
With the Death note, Light planned on making a new world. He was going to save humanity from this unhealthy cycle of chaos... But in the end he was only selfish and egotistical, Even in the beginning, he did infact kill two people at his whim. He felt much remorse for it... but that was quickly cooled when he decided to kill more and more people
I have come to realize that maybe what Near said was right... in a sense.

Light was merely a killer... not a god, wielding the most devastating weapon in human history.

The Shinigami
After acquiring the Death note, Light made his first of many acquaintanceships with the Shinigami, the first being Ryuk. Ryuk was a bored and fun-loving Shinigami. Light and Ryuk same to get a long... playing video game, eating apples, and having Ryuk listen to Lights plans and watch as he elevates himself into the title of god. Light and Ryuk could be described as friends...
but I believe Ryuk put it best when it came to the fact that he was a Shinigami first, friend second after he wrote his name in the Death note.

another encounter was Rem. It was more of a forced encounter as everything with Misa was an obstacle for Light. Rem became an enemy of Light's, even more dangerous than L... but it was Light's relationship toward Rem that I addressed his relationship towards Shinigami all-together.
Ryuk said himself that Shinigami never die... But through his tricky ambitions... Light had killed Rem, as well as L and Watari. Light had surpassed any human by killing criminals. Light had surpassed any Shinigami by killing one. Light rose to the position of a wordly god by bringing order.

Love for a god? Or fear of a murderer....
Light Yagami had reigned as both L (a symbol of justice) and Kira (a symbol of peace and fear) for 6 years. In those 6 years, he ended war... he stopped organized crime, and brought the world-wide crime rate down by over 70%
Millions of people began to think Kira really was God. But people like Mello, Near, and the police forces for catching Kira disagreed.

The way Aizawa put it... the way people felt towards Kira was not "love for a god, but fear of a murderer". Light payed no attention, the way he put it was "If Kira is caught... he is evil. If Kira wins... he is Justice"
Both of them are right.

Yet I do love the topics you are talking about; they're well-chosen. There is much to be said about these things. I also noticed that you talked about Misa's relationship with Light... I recall we had a discussion about this earlier?
