Mello going straight? So you're saying he was gay the whole time? LOL
On the contrary, I actually respect Mello quite a bit. Thanks to his reluctant cooperation (including a bit of unfortunate scarring on his part) with Near, he set aside his pride and decided that catching Kira was his ulterior motive.
And what happens in the end? Near finally captures Light. Victory at its finest. Yes, Mello has many admirable traits, indeed.

Though I must say it's strange how he sits with his legs spread way apart, how he eats hormone-inducing chocolate, how he chooses to wear tight black leather... yes he's quite the interesting character...
