Default manga vs anime?

ive watched the entire death note anime and now im debating wether to go back and read the manga or not. (i need something to keep me entertained on slow days at work)

and i wanted to ask, for those of you who have done both, usually manga has more smaller details and things that the anime overlooks or just doesnt have time for. is this the case with death note? will i enjoy reading the manga or did the anime do a good enough job explaining everything to make the manga negligible?

I myself actually read the manga before watching the anime... but I tell you, you must watch both to fully appreciate the Death Note series.

There are a few things that were left out or elaborated upon in different scales within each medium, and you wouldn't want to miss a thing.

As for your question, both the anime and the manga bring the ultimate message sufficiently across, but both are thoroughly enjoyable as well. If you watch the anime, you get a good grasp of chronological events. However, if you read the manga, you can read in between the lines, if you know what I mean.

There's a ton of double-meanings in Death Note--I suggest you go back and read the manga. It's well worth it.

I promise you won't get bored.

Rjina is absolutely right.

The manga is fantastic, and its definitely worth reading.

The difference in the manga and the anime however would be exactly what you two brought up.
In the anime, it brings a much more suspenseful and riveting feel. I didnt read much of the manga, so I dont know for sure. But just by deducing the differences in many manga compared to the anime.
I believe that the final 5 episodes of the anime were much more suspenseful than in the manga. It was something about the characters voices, the music. Everything just blended together.

Yet also, the manga has another feel that you cant quite get with the anime. Not to mention, the anime left out several things exclusive to only the manga.

Right, Matthew. xD

No I'm sorry I didn't mean that the way it sounded... I should think you'd take me seriously by now though.

You know, I read the manga first and thenthe anime myself and was rather pleased in how the stayed on the storyline almost exactly. One should always read a manga first, for some anime (like Naruto) stray from the original storyline or add unessiacary fillers, which tends to get rather irritating (Naruto was torture). Also, if you find something you getREALLY addicted too, you should go even further.
Here I am,scanning forums and watching flashes because I don't want the experience to end and I want to absorb every drop of knoledge that I may have missed from Death Note.
DEATH. NOTE. RULES.
