| I was really into the series until the end. I just couldn't believe that Light would go out like that. I would have preferred his victory by far plus I didn't buy the premise that Light's pet Kira would doubt him. The worst part was that Light had never been so stupid as to react as if he'd won until Near et al. were twitching on the floor. If nothing else I expected him to take the eye deal at the last moment, stare at Near, and sprint off while jotting down names on the scrap in his watch. Or at the very least, something interesting like him ascending to become a deathgod himself (though with a shorter leash than a normal shinigami) On a side note, what would happen to Light if he died before getting the Deathnote back, any guesses?

| Well, I am working on writing a fanfiction, with Rjina helping, about if Light had been reincarnated into a Shinigami and devised a way to get his revenge against Near using his son and ultimatley throws the world into chaos. In my series I'm going to give him a more final ending, because he does die....again. ANd this time for good. I'll try posting it somewhere by the end of tomorrow after getting Rjina to look at it. The Prelude is so annoying to write from Ryuk's POV...

It'd be much more suspenseful and easier to read/write if you wrote it in TPO, which is what I would do... that way, you have more control over everyone, you don't have to follow the strictness of archetypes, and you can withhold or reveal what you wish to the reader.... It just seems the better choice for something like what we're writing ![]() I really don't know, though...

| No, what I'm doing is that it starts out with Ryuk rambling, but then he finally get's down to explaining Death Note and then says it's time for the adventures afterwards or something and says that we humans will be alone through the story; aka no adorable little Ryuukie to help us along. XD Also, I think I will post it on quizilla. Rjina, you and me could share the account. First we need to decide that through private messages, kay? I'll handle the email and registration plus most of the hompage work. Well, that's if we do it on quizilla. I know enough codding that I could manage. If you know a better site though, like where you can post the pages directly, please tell.

What got me personally was not that he died, but how it happened. I would never have went out like that. A person of Light's intelligence should have known that it was a trap and really, he should have made the trade for the shinigami eyes. Or at the very least, he could have said something like, "If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can imagine." He should have stayed on his pedastal to the end. |

| Senior Member | I can't say that I wanted Light to win. Thinking it through, I had merely gotten attached to him for his firm resolve for his ideals... not for the ideals themselves; you might say that I did not like him, but I felt sympathy. It was like watching a stranger dying on the street--though it shames to admit it, I felt an amalgam of horror, disgust, sympathy, and disappointment. But not sorrow, goodness no. At first, of course, I thought I had liked Light as a character--as a whole. But these thoughts changed once I've figured my feelings through. Light in a way did deserve to get to the point where he was: heading the world and acting as a guiding shepherd for the confused masses. To him, the world was merely a place that needed cultivation and cleaning; eventually, the thought that he might actually ascent to the throne of his worldly realm seemed possible, and this was where he became desperate (he began killing off the people that got in his way), and also somewhat frenzied. It got to the point where, as Near did, he wished to meet his enemy eye-to-eye and proclaim a satisfying victory--while shoving his enemy's face in the dirt at the same time. Light wanted to mortify Near to assure himself and the world of his sure win. And remember, just before his death, he was cornered; at that time, he still managed to attempt to rub his beliefs into his fellow investigators quite calmly, though he was staring death in the face. To me, this is where Light's utter insanity is confirmed. Whatever he had done at that point was no longer justified. Though he may have started off with good intention, his twisted ethics and gradual shift in priorities resulted in his good failure... quite a tragedy. ...But I felt more comfortable once I knew he had died. It seemed horrendously unfair that such an other-worldly person might die such a human death--a heart attack. At the same time, I felt good knowing that the world would return to its chaos and disorder--yet knowing that the world has always been imperfect and in need of purity, to me that makes evil a standard. Therefore, he did not really change the world, in my opinion--rather, he lifted the whole body of the world up one shade of gray. I really can't justify my own feelings--but I feel that mankind as a whole can never be changed for the better (and even still, what I feel is 'better' is mere perception)... it can only be lifted one aspect at a time. And if I may say so myself, Light was that lift. NOT the cause of it.

| I wanted Light to win. His idea to purge the world is smart the only problem was clearly shown at the end of the series. The world reverts after Kira dies. There will be a memory left and that's all. Though I felt sad Light went insane at the end( sorry no other way to put it) he made a better world. Then again there was demegawa who used Kira simply to get people to view his station. In other words twist it to help themselves.

| The Tragic Prince | "I wanted Light to win. His idea to purge the world is smart the only problem was clearly shown at the end of the series. The world reverts after Kira dies." Indeed, indeed. As I have been saying to my classmates, L and the other so-called, law enforcement are only hindering Light's goal and the goal of the world. Light wanted to create a world free of evil and he was doing so until L and his flunkies got in the way. As I have argued before, Light was going to give the people the world that they truly desired and after he died, the world went right back to where it was. The innocent are struck down in the streets, the evil people no longer have any fear of retribution. Thanks a alot Near, you rejuvenated hell on earth. |
