Well, if you have been reading the thread "Who do you think you are more like; L or Light?" than you already know what this is about. But, for those who do not want to go back and read the intricate disscusion or simply don't understand, here is an explination of what we are arranging.

What is being created is a simulation game that is similar to the basics of Death Note. There are two divisions or guilds: The Brotherhood of L and The Society of Light. People who join are randomly either given a notebook or the right to be L, which decides their guild. This is assigned by user screaming_midget, the Creator in this situation, who, since they know every participant's guild, is not permitted to play. To be assigned you merely state on this thread you would like to join and after the game has enough members he will begin assigning roles through email and private messages. I merely make the posts on the game but am still permitted to play due to that I know nothing.

The goal in this game is to find out what guild other participants are in. In the game one only knows their guild, but if someone from the other guild finds out and provides substantial evidence then you "die" and are no longer allowed to participate. This means no passing hints and no regoining by creating another account. We WILL know. But, if you leave some evidence behind in previous posts others can pick up on it and use your information.

Now, you don't have to "kill" someone immediatly. You could blackmail them with this information or pretend to be a spy. Or, perhaps, you are from the same guild and can truly form an alliance. This is all up to you. All you want to do is leave no hints of your identity anywhere, so be dilligent. Only the best L would never give his name away, and only the best Kira would never leave a scrap of evidence.

Feel free to apply by posting below. We are still working out some kninks on how to exactly do this, so don't expect the game to start up immediatly. But, here's the catch: we won't tell you when it's starting. When it does, you should get your identity. Who knows if you get yours a day before veryone else? Make use of this time. But for now, please apply and put all chat regarding this game below or in the previousy mentioned thread.

I really want to be a part of this. I could even write a background storyline to make this even funner. I could keep it to myself, or share it with the little community we would make.

I just have one little idea I'd like to share with you. If we were to make this game more like Death note, wouldn't we make a single Kira and a single L.

The original L and original Kira would then look through the community of people and choose allies. Much like Light did with Mikami. Light looked for someone who was dedicated to Kira to choose his ally. Wouldn't any other Kira do the same thing?
Basically, my vision is 3 different divisions.

the world

L and Kira would than watch the world, and see how they act. They would enter the community and choose their allies from this community. Even those who have not been chosen could be vigilante detectives (like Naomi Misora, or even the SPK) or a vigilante Kira group like the one that attacked SPK HQ.
That's just my idea. Just wanna keep it out there,.

Well, the original plan was to make it like that, in a way, but we figured that would leave too many people out. We wanted everyone to have the same duties as everyone else, and so the two guilds formed. We will take your point into consideration though (You better be reading this, screaming_midget!).

Remember, we are open for sudgestions. Currently this was our main idea and we are trying to attract participants.

*laughs* That's impossible unless you make it very obvious on what group you're in. Remember, you need solid evidence on your suspicions of a person. But, then again if you know they are form an opposing guild, they don't know that. Get creative and use it to your advantage if the situation arrises.

I'm DEFINITELY in!! I've let my Death Note reading slip since I started a few other things online here. How much do I need to know about how Death Note plays out? In addition to being past 69 or so, my sister read how it all plays out on various pages (at the item, she didn't know you could read mangas online, so most of it was character profiles, general storyline, etc.), and I got the gist of how it ends.

Also, I assume the rules will be a bit more intricate than the basic premise of the game is, (after all, if I'm one of the only ones who knows who I'm with, and I don't say anything, at all, it would be impossible to catch me.

A few suggestions on that: You must actively post some sort of clue within thirteen days, or you will die.

Have a 'courier' who's not playing as a part of the game 'leak' out certain elements of players identities every so often. (Due to the extremely sensitive nature here, choosing someone you trust is vital, as well as providing them with a general guideline of how this info should be posted, and where.

Utilize a third party of players as a 'Kira' taskforce, in their 'investigations' they come across various bits of information meant to keep a player active in providing hints of their identities. (At first this might seem stupid, as L is obviously a member of the taskforce, but I'm working on the premise that the L and Light factions are two distinctly separate opposing factions with the taskforce acting as an 'impartial moderator'. After all, an L player might be just as reluctant to drop a hint as a Light player would....)

Since most members of MangaFox span several forums, one could suggest planting clues in separate forums. (However, the larger the number of players, the more difficult this becomes; what I'm referring to, however, is that, say ravstrike and I frequent the Bleach, Naruto, and Death Note Forums. I can drop a hint there, and notify a game moderator, specifying exactly what the hint is and where it's located. They then pass the message to rav, indicating that I've dropped a hint on one of those forums and this essentially fulfills the premise of L taunting Kira and vice-versa. If the game is confined primarily to the Death Note forum, it reduces the difficulty of play drastically. After all, even L, by his own admission, was uncertain that Kanto was the region in which in which Kira was operating, making him, indeed, 'lucky' to have found him there.

That's all I can think of now... rav, I REALLY hope we end up on opposite sides...

I am trying to see how this would compare with the show.

In Death note there were several factions:
Kira
the Japanese police
the mafia
SPK
Kira's supporters
Yotsuba

if you drew a line between it with Kira on one side and L on the other, than there would be several factions for each. The most fascinating thing would be, L or Kira could be hiding within whichever of the factions they'd want.

L could be a member of Kira's supporters, and Kira could be working in the SPK.

Things could even get personal, perhaps someone would want to save someone elses life before they could get caught. you could see a friend in distress and give up many clues to catch that person and save them.
Would that friend use those clues to expose their savior?

I hope that nobody will end up hating eachother. And good luck to you all. I cant wait to be a part of this, whichever side I find you guys on, it will be fun. To work alongside, or against you.
