Cheat the death note: A trusted group (couple), after one sacrifice some life for the shinigami eyes, he/she could use the knowledge of a persons death to attempt to prevent it. Although such a thing might kill a shinigami, it shouldn't affect a human. (The attempt may mean that your shinigami technically extended the life of a human that they cared abut indirectly and could mean a bonus death note).

Using the death note to cheat: Boxing match or street fight could be rigged for your gambling pleasure. Have a guy win then die or just kill the loser. The stock market stuff is nice too but black market leaves less of a paper trail. You could also ride someone else gambling in casino by know that they would win and betting on it. They win everything and then immediately die. My only concern about the casino is that they have better security than L.

as for the first one, if the Shinigami wanted to... they could kill the possessor of the Death note.
and since the Shinigami wasnt the one writing names, the Shinigami wouldnt die.
But still, using the power of the Death note and the Shinigami to save lives.

It works, but then the Shinigami could just kill the Death note user out of being pissed off that they are using a Death note to save lives.
then again... if the Shinigami didnt want to harm the human.

Than basically the human would be immortal.
If Light still had 2 death notes... he could have been immortal.

preventing the death with the life span is impossible due to the life span being in shinigami time. it will be impossible to figure out how long they will live unless the shinigami tells you how to read it.

that is a very good point
but if the Shinigami were willing to not kill them, he just might help them out.
Basically making the Shinigami eyes unnecessary

however, maybe the Shinigami could teach the human how to use Shinigami time

The shinigami could simply be indifferent to the the user. So long as the user had the shinigami eyes, he/she could just go through a hospital, funeral homes, warzone, etc. Even without guidance, you should be able to figure out the numerals.

What if the extension of the life of the DN user did impact the shinigami? Light had to die or else Ryuuk might have had to? Ryuuk might really have had no choice but to kill Light.
