Light has been taking a lot of heat lately so I'm curious. When given the DEATH NOTE, when given the choice whether to accept things the way they are or change the world for the better, what exactly would you do? What do you have in you, what would you work towards with an unwavering passion? Would you let anything stop you? What? Why? What would you throw away in your pursuit for your ideal world? What would you hold on to? After you have answered these questions, ask yourself if there are any similarities between Light and yourself.

The DeathNote is a useless tool for dullards and animals; both of which have the capacity to kill easily enough with the crude implements available to them. Altogether an unextraordinary item by which sophisticated 'sportsmen' may acquire their 'jollies'. This meager little trinket could never change the world, nor improve by virtue of its crass magic.

I refuse to be associated with Light Yagami, a man who was convinced that the DeathNote had the power to make him a God... Were I to attain Godhood, the DeathNote would not be my tool. Now provide me with the means to kill as the DeathNote kills; and then to Resurrect as only the gods can... there begins my New World Order... Personally, in my opinion, the best way to use the Death Note would be first in business, then in politics. You must first establish wealth to play with the high rollers, then you must get in tight with the political figures and weed them out as necessary depending on how they fit in your new world order. It is not necessary to kill criminals in large masses once you have control of the justice system, however, you would most definitely want to eradicate those criminals who were let off without punishment pending positive evidence of their guilt. Stabilize the United Statesfirst and foremost. After that task is secure, target foreign leaders, slowly and deliberately, ensuring stabilization for each country before removing another. This will be a timely process but it must be accomplished. It is not necessary to appoint yourself as god. The people will do this for you and there will not be the annoying issue of " righteous individuals" to stop you. Why? because that is what you will portray. It would however, be beneficial to find one acolyte who will make the shinigami eye deal. Such a tool will be invaluable, but for the most part, if no one knows you need their name, they have no reason to hide it. The key to this is patience. Light was too hasty in his pursuit of the new world. Your goal is to take out the Queens, horses, and bishops of the world using the death note. For the most part, the rest should be done by the followers. Nothing is easier to control then groups of desperate people searching for guidance. You must proceed with caution on this however, masses become discontent easily so you must ensure that there are necessary tragedies if you will. This might be the death of a beloved person that the nation loves ( this is preferable so that less life is expended) but there are such ways as airline crashes etc. Patience is simply the key.

Anyway! I'm with Wolven's first post. The power to kill is never sufficient to change things by itself...and if you were going to set out change the world using such a power, you would have to do it Flash's way. You don't smell quite as sweet to yourself, but you're a lot more honest and ultimately more powerful than Light ever was.

The trick is balancing secrecy and good PR. You'd need to get into a position where you could put up a puppet for the public view, and, because the one with the Death Note never has a monopoly on killing, never let anyone connect you personally to the killing force at least until after you had taken over the entire political infrastructure. And even then, better avoided, because the popularity of a god takes a dip if he turns out to be a man, and the popularity of a man plunges if he's found out to be inhumanly powerful. Assassins would happen. Your alter-ego would have to have the populace even more thoroughly than Kira did, while you got yourself the highest temporal power without relying overtly on the power of death.

Wow...you'd have to be a lot better than Light. Never mind the power to kill. Invest in mind control abilities.

Hey, TA, Zero, good to see you guys!! (Flash is my sis, I see her everyday)

We're also missing one crucial point while expounding on the idealism of Flash's well thought-out control play... The conditions for that are ideal... only if you're the exclusiveowner of the NoteBook!! Forget rogue's, thugs and assassins!! They could be controlled easily enough, at least, eventually. But if someone else has the same claim to Godhood that you do... you're virtually screwed!!

This is one point Light Yagami and I see eye-to-eye on (not Shinigami Eyes. All access to any available D.N.'s must be tightly controlled and regulated. If you don't have all of them, then find out how to control those who do. The Achilles Heel isn't hard to find, with due dilligence. And that was one other thing Light was smart on... even if you can't be omnipotent, at least be omnivigilant...!! (My own little word. You like?:-)
