| Okay, so I've read the first chapter but I've stopped myself. I just wanted to ask everyone of their opinion: What draws you to Fruits Basket? (And I don't mean bishies either.) Please fill me in, I'm curious.

| What drew me in was the Chinese Zodiac,Tohru Honda and her friends and just the really funny yet sad Story line. I found the book really interesting when i pulled it off teh shelf and i thought i would give it a try now i love it the ending was wonderful.

| Fruit Basket's intriguing storyline--with the Zodiac animals and all--was what I initially enjoyed about the manga. But as I read more and more of it the story's touching storyline and the wonderful characters kept me wanting for more!

| my favorite thing has to be the character's themselves. They are all rich and have layer to them. Sure it has your typical love triangle, sweet but average heroine , and it cuties at times. The pain and insecurities of the characters are very real. Everyone in the story has there demons and I'm not just talking about a zodiac curse. So for me watching the characters develop was what kept me reading. But the end I wanted everyone to get a happily ever after. Even Akito.

| Kokoholic :} | I discovered it on accident 'cause I found a picture of Arisa Uotani somewhere and then went to see what character it was and from what.. So I guess she drew me in?? ![]() But really, I think it was the unique story line. At first it makes you go "Huh? They change when you hug 'em?" but then it goes into something much, much deeper than that. You can feel the emotions of all of the characters and it's very.. real. Plus, I like that as time goes on, each character starts to look older and mature in their own ways. I love when mangas do that. And, yeah, it has the stereotypical elements, but for some reason, they don't seem as stereotypical (at least not to me) when reading it. Everything fits in perfectly, and as you get further in, the stereotypical elements just kind of slip away entirely and you're left with characters and situations completely unique from any other manga you could ever possibly read. And, really, this was the first manga that I chose to buy and read on my own. Every other one was just picked up off my brother's shelf. And to read it was the best decision ever; it's my favorite, and I go back to it quite often. Also, it was the first manga that I skipped meals to read and brought to school with me and begged all my friends to read and I missed a lot of sleep because of it and so did my friends once they decided to read it, but it was so worth it. I can probably ramble the most about Fruits Basket out of any other manga I have read so far, but I'll restrain myself since you're not that far in. ![]() Basically, it will make you laugh and maybe even cry at some parts (I can admit that I cried at like three parts) but more than anything, it will fill you with warm, fuzzy feelings and pages you won't ever, ever forget. Ever! And, if you've watched the anime, it doesn't even come close. So, read on. Because it's my favorite, and I have awesome taste in manga ![]()

| well, i started reading fruits basket years ago when i was still young. so i didn't really think anything of it and just read it. when i read it, i really hated yuki and tooru. then i stopped reading it because my friend, who i was borrowing the books from, didn't have any more (i got to the middle of the story.) then now, i continued reading it and i liked it. at the end of fruits basket i liked tooru and yuki (and akito) and of course kyo is always my favorite. but by the end of the story i also didn't like some of the characters that i liked in the beginning. like the dog person. and now when i went back to read it again. the drawings are freaking me out! it was so weird. it made re-think about going to buy fruits basket. but i still want to buy fruits basket, now that i think about it. the drawing improved a lot. and i guess it was a good thing that tooru was like that. i wish that the story was a little bit longer. i love kyo!

That's freaky, cause that's exactly what it was like for me. Everything before hand that I'd read had been off my brother's shelf! ![]() Mostly Shaman King then Fullmetal Alchemist, but now I like FMA a thousand times more than my brother. I'm obsessed, he won't even buy the books any more. I have to buy them myself but he sneaks in and takes them! But yeah, Furuba was the first manga I read on my own. My brother kinda wants to read it b/c of the Zodiac stuff and he really likes that picture of God feeding the cat the drink to make him immortal. And he loves Saki, and he read the Cinderella play and laughed a lot, specially at "burn the palace down.' ![]() | |

| This was one of the first manga's I ever read. The thing that really drew me in was the way the author could have me laughing my butt off on one page and in tears(of sadness not laughter) on the next. She has a real way of making you feel for her characters so when they make mistakes or smile you feel like your doing it too. I still hold most manga's up to Fruits Basket when rating them. ![]()
