I think its very probable that Al will get 'caught' or whatever. And Ed might have to get him back soul and body and all on the promised day. It would certaintly make it interesting for Ed to be caught in this struggle alone at the end. And I can't see how Al is going to get out of this.

Why would they kill him when he is one of their sacrafises to make the new stone...

I don't think he will die or anything. I bet we won't see him until the very end of the chapter but he'll be taken over by pride and try to kill Ed with his spiky darkness! And Ed will have his red cloak back cause he has to look cool for the final battle!

Oh and I bet Ed will meet his father and punch him first!
