| Well theres been many topics posted on either just the manga or just the anime version of FMA on this forum so i'll make a topic on both! ^^ Since the manga and anime lead completely different plots from each other i was wondering which take on this large scaled story people liked. The anime or the original plot from the manga? Dont think ' I've seen the anime, i know whats gonna happen in the manga ' cos you wont. And vice versa. Personally, i like the manga! Its got a extremly deep plot, alota new characters and more EdxWin in it! XD Plus its still ongoing in Japan! One chapter every month on the 12th! So which is the better in your opinion? |

| Manga ....coz there is more larger scale knowledge in it than in the anime the anime was wonderful too...actually i've repeatingly watching it...coz i can't find time to buy for new dvd anime... the anime had a wonderful story especially the seven deadly sins' past... it was quite diff. from the manga but manga is the best coz there are so many edwardxwinry moments and also royxriza not like in the anime there was no emphasis on the two loveteam's lovestory even in the ending "the conqueror of shambala"(i don't really if its the ending) ed left winry to save amestris to avoid new invaders to past the gate... how sad...who will then inherit the rockbell automail... the movie didn't even show any romantic ending for roy and riza....it makes me cry ![]() well manga is still the best for me... ![]() |

| When I saw The Conqueror of Shambala, I actully threw a pen at the TV and then I couldn't sleep... I was really, really sad and angry... okay, I really did overreact, I know xD But it was a very crappy ending, even though a liked the anime storyline up till then. But I prefer the manga, cause it's ongoing ![]() I'm only on volume 8 though, since I for once decided to NOT read online... hey, it's May, volume 9 should be out! *running to the bookstore*

| i definitely prefer the Manga, i hate it when the anime strays from the true storyline, it perverts the the true vision of the writer lol, i sound like an Isvalin

| Junior Member | I like the manga 100% more than the anime. I love the manga, its my absolute favorite and the plot is great. However, the anime is very well done as well. And for a change I like it. I wouldn't like every anime to stray so very far from the manga but in this case I feel like its kinda refreshing. It doesn't matter if you've read the manga, since the anime is totally different, you're still pulled in and surprised because its really a completely different story. Just my thoughts. But i do agree the manga is the best. |

| Unlike most anime that steered away from the manga (ie they ran out of published material and had to do something to finish the anime) the author actually wanted the two to completely diverge from each other. She wanted them to be different. But to answer the question: there are aspects of both that I like. For example I prefer the anime's Col. Hughes to the manga's ( he dies way too fast in the manga for my liking) and the way humuncli are made but I like the darker aspect of the manga and how well the minor characters get fleshed out. My new fave character is Gen. Armstong, I love how she picks on her little brother for being a wuss . But I love them both because each one has it's strengths and weaknesses geared toward their medium anime/manga. ![]() |

| I like the manga better but I don't like the censorship that occurs on what we get here in the states.

| Man Behind the Curtain | Oh, is there censorship? Well, anyway, the manga is best. Large chunks of the anime barely made sense. Check out the way Ed is growing up in the manga! He actually let Heinckle get away with really saying the things he used to accuse people of saying when all they said was 'small.' If he keeps this up, he might be able to actually have a significant impact on the story in his own right. Headstrong, brilliant, and tough as he might be, he is the most impotent of shonen heroes. And that's the point. His story belongs to his world, not to him. Hughes was fun in the anime, though. Particularly his first scene, the way he switched from idiocy on wires to steel-blade serious as soon as the line was secure. I much prefer the manga homunculi, tho'. The anime ones were so wishy-washy and unreasonable. And manga Scar is amazing. I have seldom seen anything more passively hilarious than his face in normal conversation with the main characters, after his initial career. What just happened to my font? |
