It's high-quality fodder. I wonder how Arakawa got a contract for once-a-month updates. Is Hana-to-Yume a less rabid company than Shonen Jump or something? Mostly it publishes the kind of shoujo stuff that isn't allowed to be too good, but somehow Arakawa got okayed for forty-some pages once every month.
...which still leaves her doing an insane amount of work with much higher drawing quality than the once-a-week guys, given that she's got almost fifty pages in under thirty days, and the storyboarding is hella more complicated for going on so long. I mean...leaving aside the 'Pendulum' part, the last hundred Bleach updates have been really, really simple. I'm not saying bad, but simple. Straightforward, you know? Not all twisty like these guys have been being. It's a comic, and it's intelligent, and it looks good, and it's fun. What more can you ask for? |
