ok evey try to follow me on this. the oni mask had a shard in it. kagome and inuyasha brought the shard back from the present to the past. so that means that there is one shard still out there.but here is where can put time logic in to play.ive thought this over.if naraku found the shard in the oni mask then it wouldve never been in the present.but kagome did find it in the present which means naraku never found it in the first place ;therefore, its still out there. why could no body find it?if any one has ever thought of this please tell me.also dose this make me nerdy for thinking this too logicly.i mean its just a manga.(a f**king sweet manga i might add.)

I think that it's because if anyone had found the jewel first, then the oni mask wouldn't be an oni mask, it would just be a mask, and then that bit of the story wouldn't have happened, so Rumiko Takahashi made that shard not be found earlier purpose, instead of just forgeting it. Does that make any sence?

very good point! and now for my crazy; pointless theory: (keep[ in mind that most of Rumikos work are completed on a weekly basis; so i dont think that they thought anything through really::: BUT IT WAS STILL A DAMN GOOD ONE I think that they meant for us to look at it more as though Kagome's trips back and forth through the well DID have effects of change on the future (think, "back to the future" and the parallell universe thing). Although throughout the series (except that mask part) Kagome's travelling to the past had no effect on the future. so, the shard no one found in the mask WOULD have never got to naraku; but because kagome removed it from the mask and brought it back to the past, the mask never possessed it in the first place ^because kagome had it, therefore it was never a threat and never had to be sealed away!( Follow so far?)

i see your point, but since kagome already screwed up time, it seems to work like this-
ok, so the jewel breaks
one shard manages to lodge itself into a tree (why i have no idea)
no one finds it until the future, where the noh mask is going rampage through japan
she finds it and inuyasha retrieves it
they bring it back to the past where it's before naraku didn't find it
if that makes sense

i'm confusing myself
point is, it's kagome's fault

first of all i love your theory 2ndly,(i dont want to confuse my self and others but lets see if i can get the point across.) if your theory is corect then the kagome bringingthe shard to the past would have never changed any thing.i looked it over again,the shard they found in the noh mask was found,the shard was only there because kagome broke the jewl.so if you look at dozens of time travle theorys,it was fate that kagome broke the jewl and not an accedent.so if naraku ever found the shard it never would have been there in the 1st place.so if it was found that whole chaps/ep. would have never happened. so if they inuyasha and company ever found the shard after kikyo,(that bitch) stole thier shards then the jewl would have become incomplete and make narakus power decrease.that would have been a good strategy agnist naraku if he ever completed the jewl

Well,for me i believe Kagome messed up the time BADLY that's why in the movie(dont remember the #) Kikyo said something about kagome mess up the time not sure maybe my hallucinations...
