Default isnt weird when u think about it?
i was writing bak im my other post when i thought of this conclusion. kagome can travel through the well at her ease with out any jewl shards near the middle of the series,but in the chap w/muiso (ithink) she cant get back with out them.wtf is up with that. which brings me to this point also, if kagome can travel back and forth with out jewl shards,why doesnt she leave them at home for safe keeping?

I have thought about this too... even if she does need a jewel shard to pass through the well, why not just use one shard and keep the rest at home?? That's what I would have done!

The only problem with that is that it was shown many times that there are in fact demons in the present. If she had left them at home than any old demon could have come, smashed up her house, killed her family, and taken the shards. I can see it now..."Mom! Sota! Gramps! I'm ho- Oh my god!" So yea, not a good scenario.

Yup,you're right.It would be too risky to store shards in the house without Kagome and Inuyasha keeping guard.

This is what I've been thinking too, when it comes to Kagome's travelling-habits. And right now I'm furious at Kikyou for taking Kagomes jewel piece, giving it to Naraku. It's bothering me that Kagome doesn't leave it at home, still I know that she can't.
