i'm thinking about reading this. but i need some other people to answer these questions.

is the storyline good?
how likeable are the characters?
will this drag on forever like the DBZ anime?

hum....if ur up 4 a series that's over 500 chapters then i say go 4 it ^_^ but i have 2 warn u the story drags on ALOT at first the story is very intresting but then it tends 2 get old. i stoped reading somewhere around the 100 chapter. i'm planning 2 just read the ending when it comes out ^_^ anyway that's just my opion but if u really want a good book 2 read then read shinshi douemi cross or vampire knight ^_^

i'd recommend it.
but you have to be prepared for the extreme length (and repetition)
i loved the core story so i was happy to continue reading it, even during the most hopeless story arcs.
but after the first .. 50 chapter (they're fairly short) if you're not getting into i wouldn't bother commiting to the other 500 chapters.

I really would recomend reading it before watching it... I was stupid and watched it before reading it and now I just want to skip to the part I was at... btw... does anybody know if there is going to be more Inuyasha Anime?

sorry.... anyways... yes you would have to get used to repitition and the length... but if those don't bother you because you like the context of the story... then go for it! I agree with Nataliexs... if your bored after the first 50 chapters then you might not want to continue

Well exept for the length the Inuyasha manga is really worth reading. The reason I don't care about the length is that the story is interesting, there's lots of character development, and many sad or depressing scenes. But also lots of humor.^^

But it really depends on which kind of manga you like. With Inuyasha it's kinda 50/50 you either love it, or must give up because of the length, the story or something...

Yea... Read the manga, and leave the anime till later. It's infected with fillers, and bad animation. Only the two first seasons are really good.

And: Sunrise don't have any plans to make more anime, at least until the manga ends.^^

well i really love the manga, i would read it. some characters are likable, and some are not so...... personally i am fond of kagome, some people don't like her they prefer kikyo, you'll find out who that is if you read the manga or see the anime

i think you'll come to your own conclusion in the end. but yes i think you should read it.

but if you want you can always just see the anime and not read the manga. but in the anime they don't really solve anything in the end. soooooooooo................. its really up to you.

Nooo!! Don't do such a terrible thing!! There are so many stories out there!!! Don't bury yourself in this...it's toooooooooooooooo loooooooooong, invest your time in some other good manga!! I've been reading this for ageeeeees, i desperately want this manga to be finished cause it has become unbearable!! you can watch the anime and the movies and wait for some new season or sth , but not the manga, doesn't worth it!!

It is worth it, if you like long mangas. And if you start reading it now, it will probaly have ended when you reach the current chapters.
I haven't once felt that I wasted my time while reading Inuyasha, again it's 50/50 you either love it or get depressed about its length. I personally don't think it even one chapter to long.^^

i think if you thought about reading it, you should! but as all of them says, it is long!! but i think you should give it a try first... read a few chapters of it and see if you would like to continue reading the rest of the series!! its easy to finish one chapter since it only has 18 pages!! <thats another reason why i love reading this!! hehehehe :'>
well i... got hooked to it eventually.. since it sorta got interesting.. but the, i did get kinda tired of it when i got to the 300+ parts... <<though that IS already far>> so i guess i'll continue it since ive gotten that far..
its worth reading!! really! hopefully you'd enjoy it like i did (:

yah like everyone else has said, its realy good you juss have to compensate for the fact that its longer than sh- wait forget what i started to write when i said 'longer'. you juss have to compenate for the fact the is realy realy realy long. and even if you started with the anime, DON'T SKIP TO WHERE THE ANIME LEAVES OFF, DON'T BE LIKE ME!!!! im a bad bad person, i gotta go back and start from the begining, again. but yah if ur up for a really good story line and lots and lots of chapters then i say, go for it. but its really up to you and you own taste
