i used to watch the anime and the last episode i left off on was when they first introduce that evil naraku baby thing.

Okay. If Akago(Naraku's baby) has just been introduced then you probaly should start around vol 29(chapter 279).
But if you haven't read the manga from the beginning, I actually suggest that you do that. There's lots of things the anime changed...
