Though it's been a while since i've seen it, I clearly remember that during the commentary audio track on one of the final movies that threats to the author lead to such a violent ending for the entire series. My wife remembers it the same way. I don't have access to the dvd at the moment. Does anyone have the opportunity to listen to commentary to confirm what was said? More importantly is it even true?

I haven't heard the commentary myself, but I've read plenty about the author getting death-threats about how the series ended. Some of these threats even made it into the movie.

Can't wait to see Rebuild.

i read that in wikipedia, but i'm not sure it was in the commentary, i'll listen to it again later

ravstrike.... so do u mean that the threats makes the author to end NGE in the movie like that ?
or do u mean that the fans send the threats bcz the fans didn't satisfy with the end in the series ? (well i read this one in wikipedia)

yeah the threats mail was put in the movie, it was before rei's neck got cut and bleeding
but since i don't understand japanese language i don't know what was saying the the threat mail

My understanding is that the fans more or less rushed the author into going in the direction featured at the end of the series. (i.e. death of major characters)... Kind of "be careful what you wish for you might not like it" message from the author.

i never wish it could end like that but that's the best ending Eva could have !!!

some may say its sad ending but it could be happy ending
many question come in my mind bcz the ending could have other meanings like....

- so everybody dead except shinji and asuka.... ?
why are only they who still alive in the end of it ?

- shinji and asuka also melted (maybe melted is not the right words, my english is not so good

) into LCL (bcz the AT field is dissappearing), but like Yui said "everyone could return to his physical form as long as they have the will to live. a friend said to me that it means shinji and asuka is the first who return to their physical form while they were already melting into LCL before.

the author end the story with question to the fans

and i like that kind of ending

The author was harrassed, if you whatch the series the ending gets dull and is just full of flashbacks, the true ending is the movie End of Evangelion... oh and also.. this is H!? I mean c'mon whats so H about it?
