I'm thinking this since luffy lost to Aikoji (The ice man)
i think we'll all agree that Gold D Roger must be great or very great, since he is the pirate king. and i think Roger have a lot of great nakama too. if he is so grat, why he can be capture by the marine. marine have three great admiral such as the ice man, and some great vice admiral too like garp. but don't you guys think that Gold D Roger must have greater crew than that? how he supossed to be captured and sentenced to death? have any idea?

Maybe it was bad luck, or some of his Nakama were captured and sentenced to death and he exchanged his life with theirs, or maybe he realized that he reached everything there is to reach so he decided to die, but as a last gift to everyone started the "great pirate age"(he must've known that his words would start a race for his treasure). Anyway only Eiichiro Oda knows what really happened to Roger

The only people i think who could capture Gold Roger are the 7 warlords of the sea. then again, since Gold Roger buried the One Piece and successfully traveled through the Grand Line, maybe he thought his life's mission was complete because he was happy when he died.

i believe that Gold Rodger was captured by Sengoku, mayb he fought with the three Admirals and was tired afterwards. maybe than the Marines took advantage and captured him

We'll see how strong is Gol D. Roger(atleast close like Luffy and Zoro) when Rayleigh Silvers show how strong he is in the next chapters.

i have a good idea how he got caught. maybe he found the historic weapon of destruction that robin was looking for and hid it with One Piece. Therefore the Marines set out an all-out attack on him, and he ordered his nakama to leave and "guide" who they think the upcoming pirate king is and fought the marines by himself?
