I noticed Ootori Kyouya is one of the most famous hosts and I can't understand why... I think he's a very irritating, ugly, with a really bad personality person - at least for me - and I would like to know what do you think about him... Is he really that good as the pools say? I know that in his heart he's Tamaki's best friend and helps other people even if he says he doesn't, but probably that's the only quality about him... Well, that's only my opinion... I leave the rest up to you.

..kyouya is a good character.. aside from his heroic deeds (ex. when he acted as the villain just to make haruhi realize her faults), he also looks hot.. he's smart and doesn't let others to go against his way.. he has lots of nice characteristics.. and most of all, i lyk the way he values MONEY!.. hehehe..
..well, i can't convince you to lyk him coz we're different.. you hav ur own lyks and dislyks..and it's also an advantage for me coz the number of my rivals will decrease.. hehehe..

Well, I'm not saying he's not a good character - actually in that aspect I think he's great - , I'm just saying that in my opinion he's personality and physics are not so good as people usually say... I respect your opinion as I wish everyone will respect mine
It's just that I was curious about what do people like about him, so thanks for helping me understand a little more about Kyouya - actually he's a nice guy, but the other hosts have more qualities than he have, so it looks like he's a worse person than he actually is (this is a bit confusing, sorry about that).

i think understand what your trying to say. kyouya is a great character, but as a person he isn't THAT great. So why does everyone like him? is that it? because if it is, i say it really depends on how you define a good person. deep inside kyouya has good intention, but because of the family atmosphere he's grown up he is very competitive, straight forward, and the has his own list of priorities, meaning the gain from an action might be more important to him than someone's individual feelings. And as i said, kyouya is only a character and ouran is meant to be, at most times, a light-hearted and fun manga. so the fans mostly find his coldness funny and attractive!

honestly, i dont really like kyouya that much. him and renge (who NEVER shows up anymore, thank god) are the only ones that really annoy me in ouran.

idk why i dont like kyouya, because, after all he does for tamaki and haruhi, he should seem like a small hero in the series. but still... he doesnt do it for me. Maybe its just because anime guys with glasses annoy me. lol.

well whatever. maybe if he got the spotlight more often i would be able to see him for who he "truly is."

Haruhi and Tamaki are tied for my favorites, but Kyouya is such a close #2. For some reason, I love characters that I would usually hate in real life with the exception of Tamaki (he'd be a nice guy in reality). I dunno, I just like characters who seem to be bad people but have redeeming qualities. It gives me more to analyze (mwahaha). Complex personalities are more interesting imho than one sided personalities (aka characters who can only be defined with one adjective/trait). Kyouya is manipulative, dark, rude, aloof and acts like a bad person, but he's actually kind inside (weird I know). He's like a paradox, which is why I think he's a great character.

Eh, but I understand why some people don't like him. We have different preferences and perspectives.

And I forgot to add that I've noticed characters start to become more physically attractive when one finds their personality attractive. Same goes in real life, actually.

i don't really like kyoya but he is one of the most important character. he's not a bad person. he's a type of a character that smart, always thinks twice ahead others, and has many secret plans that may seem evil but it will be turn out great and useful.. this kind of character is often needed in every good story..

Yeah I agree. He'd actually be the best looking if he got rid of the glasses and spiked his hair a little like in episode 17. By the way, have you heard of the Kyouya Ootori fanclub?
