| this has been causing me frustrations for the past five years since i watched reflection OVA where kenshin wandered off again and left kaoru and his son kenji then came back much much later on then died . so can somebody tell me whether watsuki made this depressing OVA? i got this impression that mangakas generally don't have a say on the anime, movie and OVA versions of their mangas, so is it possible that watsuki is innocent of this criminal offense of turning ruruoni kenshin's ending into the most depressing ending ever? haha pardon my exagerationn but then again i think if you love rurouni kenshin you'd probably feel this way too after seeing the reflection OVA.then there's also this thing in the kenshin himura aticle in wikipedia saying that watsuki was rather unhappy after he saw the movie (reflection OVA) saying that kenshin went through a lot of crap and thus deserve a happy ending. i was really relieved to hear this since it's implying that watsuki did not create this reflection OVA right? as long as watsuki, the creator of rurouni kenshin, did not make this ending in the OVA, it will render this OVA's ending as invalid and irrelevant, don't you agree?. since RK is his work so i would believe that the real ending of RK is the ending in the manga and not in the OVA. if that's the case i'd be really really really happy ![]() |

| I personally really liked the ending. I prefer things "TO END". I don't want any wiggle room for thoughts. You end something you start. I am was fine with how Kenshin died. Sure it was depressing but woah, It got me worked up and if you ask me, was a great ending to an amazing story. Just so you know how crazy I am: I was pissed that I saw Kenji walking off starting his own life...That isn't a finish. I want an OVA upon Samurai X giving the story of the rest of Sanosuke's life as well as Yahiko. I liked the other characters but these two were very influencial and deserve their finale. |

| The Otter Overlord | Watsuki read the ending and said that Kenshin deserved a happy ending. He also said the OVA ending is all based on your own personal opinion whether it's right or wrong. But Kenshin did die happy his scar faded away showing that he had atoned for his crimes in life and he was able to die peacefully, though it is still very sad.
