You know what, rereading the later chapters of the manga makes me think I like Fay as a vampire, that is after Celes and onward. It doesn't really have to do with him turning into a vampire but teh character change in Nihon onward was very much needed and it's nice to see him grow up from the angst (unlike certain others...)

It is quite sad.

Fai was such a powerful magician.

To have so much taken away from you: to be made a dependent. It took away his dignity.

Kurogane was so sensitive of this. I think he really understood, imagined himself in Fai's position.

To add to the thread: I guess from a voyeuristic point of view I love Fai being a vampire. But because I fell in love with him long before, I hate it, because it hurt him so much.

I dunno I always saw Fay getting rid of his last magic as leaving the past behind and being able to start over. I mean the magic was half the reason he and his twin was locked up as children and probably the reason FWR saw him as an excellent pawn. The magic was also the basis of both curses and so on. I think he was almost relieved to see it go.

Yes, I guess I didn't mean his magic was important to him. I agree his power was the lure for FWR.
It was just the sudden change from someone who could look after themself to being reliant on someone - as a vampire and in other ways. To be someone less able, vulnerable. Again I have not phrased that well, as the vampire blood instils its own powers.
I think I would find that change very difficult to cope with.

Maybe the vampire powers will be sufficient - just like a change from one power to another. I feel much better about it now. Well done Eleanore thankyou for that.

Ah, sorry for misunderstanding. Yeah I can see how having to rely on someone else just to be able to survive would be very different for him. Fay's been the kind of person who always tries to keep people at bay and take care of himself in that sense.

And giving up that last of his magic he'll be reliant on Kurogane until he dies. I can see how that would be a conflict for him but I'd still say that the change was kind of neccessary for him. Also I'll think he'll get used to it with time ;3

i guess it might be hard for him to relay on someone but i think that it is good to him, i mean now he has to actually relate to them, he wont be so alone anymore, he wont be able to isolate himself.
i also think that not having his magic will not be so hard nor different considering that since the beginning of the manga he rarely used it, so i guess he can survive perfectly well without it.

becoming a vampire...it has to be hard for him in the beginning.
giving up his magic which is taught by the king he love so much,
putting away past means giving up his brother,
he held him tight to his heart for all these years!
to let it go suddenly...
he seems to have accepted to be a vampire these days,
but does he really accept because he wants it and able to?
or he is forcing himself to accept it as a fate?

About him being a vampire, I normally don't like vampires. At all. I think they're over used, but I'll make an exception here because it's Fai (and he's my third all time fav character) besides he makes a pretty cool vamp.
