Unhappy Isn't VK also shounen??

I've been always thinking that Vampire Knight wasn't really Romantic except the KanameXYuuki stuff which I despise. This is kind of Shounen, right?
The bloody Vampires, the battle and other stuff.
Now it's not really School Life.
In fact, I don't understand it anymore!!
Don't blame me but honestly, my age is between 11-13.
It's all Ichijou, Kaname, and Yukki and also Ruka stuff.

Well, I think that it is a shojo still. Shojou is more for girls to read and shounen is more like for boys, like bleach and naruto. Sure VK has lots of fighting and action in recent chapters but you kind of have to think more like would mostly guys or mostly girls read this...In this case I think mostly girls read this..

Not necessarily, Vampire Knight has more of an appeal to female audiences. Also, there hasn't really been much action, as crimson.clover has stated, until the later chapters. Sure, there's some nice action, the darker atmosphere (and vampires!) of the overall anime than most romance series. However, this wouldn't really be something I'd think your boyfriend or other guy buddies to read. The way it's written just wouldn't suit them.

No, there's too much subtle romance and not enough fighting to be shonen.

This is shoujo genre. If you read shonen magazines like Shonen Jump, you'll notice that shonen titles either have tons of ecchi (slightly pornographic material) or elaborate fight scenes... as in the chapter is usually dominated by panels of fast paced action... or both...

If this was shonen then the fight scene between the night class and the invading vampires would've had more action. But instead, it shows the vampires just suddenly disintegrating into dust.

This can be noticed in D. Gray-man. It started out in almost the same pace as VK with limited fight scenes but filled with blood and gore. Then it suddenly changed to accommodate more complex fight scenes and battle strategies.

Shoujo focuses more on romance and complex relationships between the characters, whereas shonen uses romance as just a sub-plot or simply to attract some female viewers, and focuses more on the fighting, battle strategies, fan-service (ecchi), etc.

So... yeah... VK is shoujo. And the fact that it's published in LaLa magazine (a shoujo magazine) clearly states that it's shoujo...

Shoujo manga are defined as such by their publication in shoujo magazines, and Japanese publishers determine which titles are shoujo and which shounen by the audiences to which they are targeted. It is true, however, that shoujo manga share certain characteristics.

Yeah, but there are also some shonen and seinen titles with a female lead. It's all about the art and the story flow. I kind of noticed that shojo manga... the art-style is very dramatic and overflows with bishounen and bishoujo. While shonen... well, the bishounen there don't have all shining air and bright twinkling eyes. If anything, guys squint at the sight of that...

Lol. I say shoujo, it has plots that you really need to pay close attention to that most Shounen readers wouldn't bother with. >.<

Both guys AND girls read this! Ask my school! I brought one of the mangas and made my boyfriend read it, and now, he's like in love with it!
