| chibi ninja | i think vampire knight was influenced by some other mangas, but i noticed that it had a similar love triangle to fruits basket... there's this vulnerable but happy & energetic girl [yuuki, honda] who secretly likes the most popular guy in school [kaname, yuki] but is loved by an angsty, emotionally scarred guy who only she can save [zero, kyou]... the plots are different but i absolutely love both mangas! [maybe because of the one-sided love triangles that are just so interesting] |

| X..Vampire's Ducleata..X | I don't really agree with that, I think Vampire Knight is quite original. I especially don't think that Tohru was in love with Yuki. She cared for him, but she wasn't in love with him; unlike with Yuki and Kaname. Yuuki's very much in love with Kaname (I always thought in a somewhat obsessive way...) but everyones entitled to their opinions.

| There's only so many ways you can make pairings. Basically, there are love triangles all over the world of manga. Which is why I don't think it was purely influenced by Fruits Baskets. I guess you could see Kaname as Yuki Sohma, Zero as Kyou and Yuuki as Honda, but...the plot is definitely day and night. VK being night, that is. But I don't mind since a lot of the greatest mangas are influenced by something before them. Death Note was influenced by a simple one shot from way, way back. Not many know of this, but I don't think they'd care either since DN is so damn famous. And I've been noticing an increase of vampire mangas and novels. Is this some sorta new fad?

Ha! I noticed that too! I guess that vampires have become less of a negative thing and more of a beautiful and romantic thing. Like Stephanie meyer, or the House of Night. I was pretty obsessed with vampires before this crazy fad started

| Pure-Blood | Love triangles are really popular. Especially in the romance mangas. I dont think Hino would knock of other's work though. She has so much talent herself that she doesn't need to. i'm just wish they would come out faster. One month until the next one!!! haha I'm already counting down.

Kudos to you for being such a loyal fan. I'd do it myself as well, but I think I'd go crazy.

| chibi ninja | i guess you're right about me thinking more about vampire knight then fruits basket, but even though the situations aren't the same, you've gotta admit...the characters' personalities are similar. that's what caught my interest the most. plus, the one girl two guy thing added to my imagination... i'm not trying to offend hino matsuri...i just really like both stories & thought that she might've got some inspiration from fruits basket. ![]() |

| X..Vampire's Ducleata..X | Nah, like I said, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I suppose it's how you take it. I agree about there being a love triangle, and Kaname is as cool, calm and collected as Yuki (Well, no-one beats Kaname in being c,c&c, but y'know what I mean). They're both great manga's anyway XD I doubt Hino would be offended to have her manga compared to Fruits Basket

| Senior But Young Citizen | It would be terribly boring if there was no love triangle involved. I mean, in every story there are always two guys vying for a girl's attention (the cliched plot). The girl will be either clumsy or she can be a bad-ass chick who knows when to fight. That's a basic ingredient in every story, so I believe Vampire Knight was not influenced by one manga alone, or it was not influenced at all.

| i really don't think the inspiration came from fruits baskets...i think that Matsuri Hino thought of this great series herself. I would just say that they had some similar shojo plot. I mean, there's plots that shojo mangas have within their story(you just have pick them out) for example... --->they have a love triangle between the main girl and two different guys that she both care deeply about --->one-sided love but soon they might be together --->the main girl might be happy and cheerful but inside she's really sad(like she has a problem and only her can fix that problem) --->and also the main girl might be dumb(academically) i could think of more but i'm a bit lazy to name all the shojo plots out there(that i could think of)![]() anyway
