I have been wondering in the manga and anime, when Kaname sucks on Shizuka's blood,she says he will gain a new power and he does; but she also says that wherever he goes,there will only be darkness & have a sinister future.Does this mean he will never really be able to live happy? or Does it mean that he will probabely have Yuuki by his side but will always have to be fighting? i dont understand that part much.plz explain Thanks

"sinister future"...actually i just realized that same thing this morning after trying to convince myself as hard as i can...that zero will end up one way or the other with yuuki..(haha. sorry for that guys...for those who love kanamexyuuki) ... as far as i know... the plot of Vampire Knight is a tragic love story... so my very wild wild guess is... maybe in the end... Kaname will end up sacrificing his own life for yuuki...rememeber the part when Yuuki told Zero that she's been in-love with Kaname eversince... so the realationship between kaname and yuuki has been obviously fixed...(what's tragic about that?)...so... to make it such...one has to spill his own blood for the sake of the other.

Yup, he's inherited a sinister future by killing a pure-blood.

But Kaname already had a sinister future what with opposing Rido and all of the Senate's vampires. I think that he's just especially cursed because it is super-taboo to kill a pure-blood because all pure-bloods should be treated with the utmost of respect and preserved so that they can continue their own bloodlines and enrich those of the Aristocrats.

DUDE! Thats exactly what I was thinking! Kaname's gonna come save Yuuki's life for the price of his and the Yuuki and Zero end up together...It just wouldn't make much sense if Zero suddenly died I mean really he's been put through too much shit already. Plus it wouldn't make a lot more sense if both Zero and Kaname survived, seeing one be with Yuuki and the other dumped is just too painful.

It means Kaname will never ever experience happiness in his life. He will end up sacrificing everything he has for the sake of someone else's happiness. (That would be Yuuki's happiness dude.)..Isn't that something akin to martyrdom? Ugghh..it's heartbreaking if that would be the case.

Eh. If Kaname sacrifices his life for Yuuki, I wouldn't want her to end up with Zero (even though I'm a Zeki fan). Vice versa too.

I think that Shizuka ment that Kaname's future is sinister because it's taboo to take the life of a pure blood. I also think that it is ironic that she was going to do the same thing to him but using Yuki as the tool so the blood wouldn't be on her hands he just happened to make the first move. Then the sinister future would have belonged to Shizuka. I hate to say it but there is a common thread where relationships like Kaname's and Yuki's don't tend to work out has anyone ever read Angel Sanctuary? if not it's about Setsuna Mudo and his Sister Sarah who fall in love. I can't go into any more of it because it is majorly complicated. Also look at their parents too they were siblings and yes they had over two thousand years together but look how they ended up. So far I am leaning more towards Kaname and Yuki because I just don't see Zero having a miraculous change of mind when it comes his hatred of vampires enough for him to have a long term intimate relationship with her, but thats just my opinion. I think also that Kaname had this all planned out to a certain extent because even though he wanted Rido to sleep forever he knew that he would eventually come back and so was prepared for that. Me being ever the optimist and a lover of happy endings I think that they will overcome the shadows to their destinies to have a future. Or because I think neither one could live without the other one so they both could end up dying . The only thing well not the only thing but the main thing I feel is confusing is that Yuki called him her brother but then he denied it to Zero by saying that he wished he were really her older brother, so whats with that? who is he really? and He also called himself the Ancestor of the Kurans and said that Rido had called him from his grave so I hope that will be explained. Also Juuri said that Rido had stolen their first child oh the confusion I hope this will all be explained eventually or I might start ripping out my hair.

hahaha. oh well... since a "sinister future" is bound to happen with KANAME... it just made me thinking again, aside from what i've previously posted, that there could be a possiblity that Yuuki might die along the way... (oh my god!! nooo!!) the fact that she is the most important thing to kaname, yuuki dying... gave me the impression that it is indeed the most sinister future kaname can have eternally. and the most tragic way of ending the story. crap! that's way thinking too much!!

phew... i guess ill stop thinking about Vampire Knight for a while... who knows what might happen in the end...Hino-sensei is taking sometime off so same thing goes for me.

Well, the only reason Juuri and Haruka didn't live together happily eternally was because of Rido, so I don't think there's necessarily something in VK preventing siblings from living together happily for all time like there was in AS. In the VK world among vampires, sibling intermarriage isn't a problem, so there isn't that taboo to prevent it.

As for the Kaname brother-not-brother-ancestor: Read the "Answers to Frequently Asked Questions" and your question should be answered. If you're still confused, read the forum more (it's been answered multiple times) or send me a PM with your questions and I'll try to help. The VK Characters Wikipedia page is also really helpful.
