Okay... I'll admit that I'm not really a fan of Kaname, but I liked him nonetheless. I may be a Zero x Yuki fan, and I am still supporting that pairing despite the obvious turn of events in the manga. But I have been tolerant to the number of Kaname x Yuki scenes, and I've tried remaining neutral (keyword: tried). But after reading chapter 39, I am downright furious!

What the hell is up with what Kaname said? That Zero is something's he's nursed for four years just for the sake of turning him into some kind of "perfect" weapon? As I had stated in my other post "interpreting the video" Kaname had struck me as the fellow who controls and manipulates. And in this chapter, boy did he manipulate! He had everything dancing in the palm of his hands, even poor Zero.

He said that he was going to take Yuki with him and leave the academy. And what? Leave Zero to kill Rido like he had intentionally planned? So, basically, everything was a ploy (from the time Zero got bitten to when he's feeding off the Kuran siblings) to make him the strongest "Hunter" to kill Rido?! I mean, Kaname gets the girl, the glory and lots of followers, while Zero gets... what? Oh, is that why his name is "Zero" because in the end he gets absolute "zero"?

Kaname is sick, manipulative, twisted, dark and creepy! How dare he play with Zero's life like that? And Yuki! How long does she intend to take Kaname's side? If only she takes her time to notice, she'll realize just how cunning her Kaname-senpai really is. She's so blind to how Kaname treats Zero! I hope Hino-sensei remedies that soon.

Lots of Kaname x Yuki fans (I'm not saying all) say he's emo. Well, doesn't he have a right to be? His family was killed before his eyes. He got turned into a vampire. He was betrayed by his own twin brother!! He turns into something he doesn't want to be. Yuki, his friend and comrade, turns out to be a vampire, which stands for another betrayal. Not to mention that it is revealed to him just how much he's been manipulated by Kaname! Let's not forget the fact that the Hunters, his own people(!), are also "disowning" him. The vampires aren't too keen on receiving him either. So what does that leave him with?

Give the guy a break. He's been through enough violent trauma to last a lifetime. Try spending one moment in his shoes, let's see if you don't go emo.

And if that's not enough, Hino-sensei had to end the chapter with a cliffhanger! Zero, no!! Don't die!!! You can't leave Yuki in Kaname's hands!! Ichiru, how dare you!!!

Argh... It's so frustrating for waiting so long for the next chapter to arrive. I'm still furious and just needed to blow off some steam.

Whoa! I totally agree with everything that you just said and I posted a short theory in one of the newer threads about how I think Kaname was the cause of Zero being bit. I'm really disliking Kaname right now.

I feel really bad for Zero too. He has suffered the most of anyone and doesn't seem to get anything. He has every reason to be as depressed and angsty as he is. I do hope that in the end he is able to live happily (and that he doesn't end up dying in the fight with Rido - since I know he's got to fight Rido because he loves Yuuki and wouldn't leave her to Rido's mercy).

I'm really angry at Kaname for being so manipulative too. Even if all he said was true, there isn't really a reason for him to talk to Zero like that and tell him that he's Kaname's tool. I wish that Kaname had just come to Zero and told him, "You're the only one who can kill Rido because of your hunter heritage and the additional power Yuuki and I have given you. Fight and kill Rido for Yuuki's sake and prove your love for her."

If he'd said something like that, I wouldn't be so angry with him right now. >.<#

yeah.. i totally agree with u.. it's not like i hate kaname or anything, it's just that i prefer Zero better. i think he would be more suitable for yuuki, than kaname.

well... i can understand how u feel right now.. i am a little mad at Kaname too for leaving zero in the dark like that... i really feel sorry for zero... first being lectured by Kaname about how you're supposed to save the world and then get shot by your own brother. That must really hurt! But maybe Kaname has other intentions too...(just trying to look at it on the bright side) but to what his intentions are... we all probably have no clue. i guess we just have to wait for the next chapter to come out... (it's gonna be another month of waiting...)

I have been rooting for both Zero and Kaname, and keep changing my mind on who should be with Yuuki. This topic should have a spoiler warning btw to those who haven't read up to chapter 39 yet. I think people are forgetting that Kaname is a pure blood vampire. That is what they are like: manipulative and cunning. That is the essence of a vampire. Dating back to the books "Interview with the Vampire," and "Dracula"---- when have vampires been anything else? However, the only sweet side we see is Kaname's love for Yuuki. I honestly believe he does love her. But yes, his treatment of Zero is not nice: telling him he is a chess piece in his game (ouch!) But, that's a vampire for you. And let' not forget, Yuuki is a vampire too. However, she now has a human-side to her having lived as a human for 10 years. I have a feeling she will be coming into her own very soon. The vampire-side to her will hopefully make her less whimpy (fingers crossed!)

Vampires have been many many things and have been around for much longer than Dracula, which only dates back to the Victorian Gothic. I wouldn't place 'manipulative' at their core, although cunning has been associated with them for some time. But I do understand your specific point about Vampire Knight.

I too hope Yuuki will come into her own soon, and think she will. We had a hint of it when she swooped in with Aido to save Yori, and I hope she'll take part in fighting off Rido's minions with the others from the Night Class.
