apparently, the american version of the death note movie is gonna be released in 2010. it's being developed by vertigo entertainment, and the person they want to play light yagami is...disney's zac efron! nothing is 100% yet, so i'm not sure if this is really true...
but if they do cast zac as light, then...

Haha, I have to admit that Zac Efron would be perfect apperance wise, but other than that no. Just no.

(And if Death Note did go Disney and Hannah was Misa-misa I would be scared. That is just too wrong. And I can't comprehend who would play L. @___@)

Vertigo Entertainment (no relation to DC Comics' Vertigo imprint or the United Kingdom's Vertigo Films) has developed or is developing remakes of Ju-on (The Grudge), Dark Water, Infernal Affairs (The Departed), Gin gwai (The Eye), Shutter, My Sassy Girl, Jungdok (Possession), and Janghwa, Hongryeon (The Uninvited). The Parlapanides brothers are writers and executive producers of Undercover, an update of the 21 Jump Street television series which is under development for The CW network.

The Death Note manga has already been adapted into two Japanese live-action films with one spinoff film, an animated television series, assorted television specials, and novels. Viz Media is releasing the manga, the anime series, and a novel, while Viz Pictures released the first Japanese live-action film in theaters in May.

rumoured director-- Bryan Bertino- is known for his film "The Strangers" Which only gained a 41% on Rotten Tomatoes, is said to be directing it. He is surely planning on making this a horror film, which any REAL Death Note fan knows that it is not.

for god sake ppl calm down.. nothing is definite yet... , so I'm not a Zac efron fan, I agree with most of you that he would suck as light , but there are lots of crazy rumors going around I even found a site that said the main role of light would actually be played by Jesse Spencer ( don't get me wrong I love that guy).. that's Dr .Chase for all of you who watch the tv show House M.D.... that L would be played by Cillian Murphy( the scarecrow in batman begins..) and Evan Rachel Wood ( thirteen.. god I hated that movie ;and Across the universe...) would play the part of Misa , of course being a Hollywood version they would change the names turning Yagami light into-- light raynolds, Amana misa into-- misa parker.. and so on.....

While I have no idea if this is supossed to be some kind of a sick joke or just a rumor.. so I DON¨T TAKE RESPONSABILTY FOR THE INFO........ if it is just someone trying to play a joke the they have a lot of free time and need to get a hobbie, they also had a poster in the site that I'll share here on mangafox.. we will just have to wait and see if there will ever be a decent live version of this great manga and anime series....
