Default Do you prefer manga to anime?

I find that in most cases, I do! Especially shojo manga, they go more in depth I think than their anime counterparts. Like after watching the Host Club and Furuba anime I was like... I GOTTA READ THE MANGA. And I can read manga faster than watch anime... An episode is like, 25 minutes and I can read like, five chapters of manga compared to one episode that's based on one manga chapter.
But then, when it comes to more action-oriented series I prefer the anime. I can't stand trying to read fight scenes in a manga, sometimes they're just too hard to follow!

So, whatcha think?

I tend to enjoy manga more for shoujo. But if its a comedy like School Rumble, Lovely complex, or Ouran High School Host club I like anime better. The voice actors really add to the humor. I love Tamakis voice. It is perfect for him and it makes me laugh. The voice actors in Lovely complex were good too.

I dont really read anything action related for the sake of action. I just look for good plots. If it so happens to have action then cool. An example would be Elfen Lied in that case. I havent read the manga for Elfen Lied but I doubt the fight scenes in the manga would be as exciting. But I heard the story is different so I may check it out. I think I read something about the ending being sad(if you are a Lucy fan and Yuka hater) So I feel like avoiding it. :(

It depends, in some aspects the anime is much better than the manga, like in the case of action based manga/anime like bleach and naruto. Its better to see the anime to better understand some of what is going on in the manga because sometimes the manga can be very vague. While the manga sometimes gives better insight into what is/was going on in the characters mind. But it also depends on the reader/viewer since you are the ones watching. For example take me, I like both the manga and the anime for Eyeshield 21 and even though I saw the anime first, after reading the manga I like it alot more than I ever did they anime but since its a sport manga watching the anime also helps to fully understand what the characters are going through on the field than the manga could.

The anime is always done before the manga and sometimes, the anime has different details from its original manga's.

Not sure... i'm 50/50. I will say this though, I do prefer anime for the due fact that, it ingulfs you with not only the visuals but sound as well... music plays a major part in many of the emotions that you receive from anime.

I prefer the original version of the story, whether it started as a manga or an anime.

Actually, in most cases the manga comes before the anime. For example- Naruto, Bleach, Furuba, Ouran High School Host Club, Death Note, etc.- all those had manga before the anime came out. I can't think of any off the top of my head where the anime came first... ^^;;

Both.
But i adore it when after i read a favorite manga and find out there's an anime. i /want/ to see these characters be put into life through animation. i dunno. i can't decide between the two.
see.
manga has more info and other such stuff. but it can be boring sometimes. fighting scenes are meant to /move/. xDD but i like both equally, honestly.

Oh, I agree! One of the shortcomings of manga is that it's more challenging to convey movement. Tamaki (from Host Club) is even more entertaining when he's animated and in color, he comes to life! *laughs at Robot Tamaki*

When I was reading Bleach the fighting scenes bored me. I couldn't comprehend all that was going on!
