I prefer yaoi and/or shounen-ai. It's just my personal taste.
Honestly, it varies form person to person, so you never really know.
Sorry to say, but yaoi would definitely win against yuri in a poll. :P! lol.

Most of the Female population that know what anime is like yaoi or the lighter version, Shonen-ai. But of course that is not the same for everybody. I do have some female friends who enjoy both. I still question them some times. I myself would have to say yaoi all the way!

okay this is my two cents. Although i consider my sexual orientation to be hetero, i have read both the yuri and yaoi genre's.
To be honest i don't have much of an opinion either way. As far as yuri goes, well i have actually made out with a girl before, and it was a whole lot less than what the books seem to romanticize. But i guess thats fiction huh? (-;

and with yaoi, i think it's pretty much the same thing. The stories portrayed are always very dramatic and romanticized. From what i have actually gathered from some of my more 'loose' friends, is that it's usually never such an angst or romance-fest. I guess guys just don't give off that extra emotion in reality? ^^

Yaoi, because I am girl But I have been thinking to try out some shojo-ai mangas. I have seen Kannaduki no Miko( anime ) and that wasn´t so bad.

...Because the fantasy is almost always beter than the reality... and two hot, muscular, beautiful guys doing deviant things to one another beats out two stacked chicks, anytime! Plus I'm not jealouse of the lack of cellulite or the amount of cleavage in yaoi...

You can't forget the fact that a lot of hetero manga is also not very realistic and a lot that happens there, also doesn't happen in real life. So I think both Yuri and Yaoi are about as realistic as het manga, but I only read Yaoi for the hott bodies first and good stories second! I'm not big on Yuri though...
