I was a bit surprised to see the new block when I tried to read a manga a friend had suggested, but it did prompt me to finally stop lurking on this website and actually create an account. Perhaps this could end up encouraging more people to become more active on the site. As a side note, I found it a pleasant surprise to see the degree of responsibility the admin here is assuming in regards to the distribution of stuff with mature content. Most sites have a warning that informs people not to continue reading if they are not over 18, but that does leave them open to risk if a person ignores the warning (as most people do). Liability-wise, I think Mangafox would be covered if they did just limit it to a warning without providing the block, but it is nice to see someone not just settling for enough to prevent a lawsuit.

Since registering I have no issue with "mature" content. I log in to check the boards prior to viewing manga. The site says Thanks, then off I go. Perhaps you had a prior account that showed you were under 18? If you are legitimaly over 18 then there is an issue, PM an admin and have them find a work around. If you are under 18 stop trying to view the restricted content and stop complaining.. It seems pretty simple to me. BTW, smut by definition IS MATURE. Think of movie ratings... Smut would be rated r or x, and you should be of age to view it.

I appreciate your view of preventing mature manga from minors. This way at least you force readers to sign up before being able to read. It gives a good image of MangaFox as a caring and well organized group of manga fans. Keep up the good work, thanks!

I also was a lurker until the block but now I suppose I'm forced to sign up. Haha, I was going to do it anyway but I guess this speeded the process up. However I still cannot see any of the 'mature' manga for some reason, I am 18 so maybe it has something to do with cookies? Anyway, hopefully this problem will be cleared up soon. Til then I guess I just go back to reading non-mature manga.

Cookies should not be an issue, but you could always clear them. | |

Parents work, kids are alone at home and idle hands are evil hands. Kids will get into mischef if the parents cannot watch them 24 hours a day, and truely what parent can? Kids have always gotten into mischef, but with the advent of the internet the issues have expanded exponentially. Quick question for you suzy, Do you have net nanny, safe surfer, or cybersitter on your childs computer? Do you restrict their rights to a whitelist to prevent the viewing of age inappropriate content? It's doubtful that anyone can place a restriction that doesn't have a workaround. Also, whats to prevent a child from using a friends computer, or worse a school computer to access age inappropriate content. At least the registering prevents it here( if done honestly) and there are still flaws in the system. With no true age verification system in place the minds of our children will always be at risk. Since you registered only to post that useless piece of fluff, it's doubtful you will see any response, but for future readers please realize that this server is doing what it can to remove the "forbidden fruit" and I applaud the servergods for it.
